Scored this 2007 Rm125 off marketplace for $1,700 with the title
Kid ran the bike to bone dry so wasn't sure if it would even start when I got it home. After flushing the tank, carb, and a fresh plug she started 3rd kick and runs strong as an ox. Not a bad starting point, gonna start tearing it apart this weekend

WILL BE PIC HEAVY

Can’t get races out of head tube on frame Almost no lip on them. Tried heating them, and using my new pit posse race remover tool still wont budge. The tool slips off the lip of the races after a few good hits.

I've filed 2 small grooves with a round file, at both the top and bottom of the inner  head tube on my RM's for that reason.

There's nothing to get onto on the races so a few mm extra from the filed notches are a life saver for future maintainance.

But for your current situation, I find a solid bar of steel, 20mm diameter or more works best. Put it down the head tube and put pressure sideways on the bar to keep it pressed to the edge and on the race lip. Then hit it hard with a big hammer. Work your way around the lip at opposing points and it will come out eventually

Thank you Russ !! Ill give this a shot next weekend 👍
I knew the steel frame bikes have the least amount of lip but didnt think it was this bad !

I used the motion pro steering race remover and its incredible how easy it removes the races. I too struggled for hours trying to remove races out of my 03 steel yz125... Decided enough is enough and bought the dang expensive tool.

Very cool project!

Are important original parts for the latest RM models still good/easy available? Like gearbox parts and a wiring harness or other stuff.

Thank you! Yes, most are available but may have to pay a pretty penny for some hard to find stuff depending on what youre looking for
