I remember last year hearing how every event broke attendance records at every single race. This year gillette was a mudder and was still packed, but me my dad and my buddy all mentioned yesterday how that was BY FAR the most people weve ever seen at southwick before. I’m talking like filled to the maximum capacity. We went to go to our usual spot and literally had to slide between peoples bodies sideways for 1000ft to finally be able to squeeze in with people crammed around us on all sides. It was much harder than usual to see, but not complaining. We were in the pocket at the top of the first turn and you literally could not fit 1 more person in there. If last year broke attendance records then I cant even imagine what it looked like this year. That was like woodstock in 99’.
Is this still the case at every round? Havent heard it talked about as much but holy cow. That has to mean something for the sport right? Advertiser dollars, attendance, social media visibility all of this stuff has to be looking as good as it ever has. The US series is crushing it. I have to imagine mxgp is doing pretty good too? Now if worldsx can get supercross to places like africa, indonesia, india, china…etc the future has to be as bright as its ever been. Social media and tv/streaming is good and thats one thing, but to have sooooooooooooo many people showing up in person that shows that this sport is super popular right now. Ive been going to southwick since the 90s and that was the biggest crowd Ive seen there.
-On a side note about sport popularity I was waiting in line at the notoriously aweful porta-shitters at southwick and heard a young mom call out to her little boy “deegan! Were over here!”….. So if millennial moms are naming their kid deegan I think that he also just may be having a small influence lol. Thats a lifetime commitment.

Great to hear. Also makes me feel good about staying home to watch the race lol. I'll be at Una-fawkin-Dilla, though
I don't recall them mentioning crowd size all year.
Seems like with everything being digital these days, approximate numbers would be pretty easy.
I heard the news channel lady say...20,000 expected at South wick...
I think the pro racing side is on a high right now and competition is deep outside of Jett and Haiden. Going to an event live is unreal and the tv package right now is bar none best ever.
Riders are going longer in their careers due to technology, bikes and training advancements...all good things.
Lastly, SX & MX working together has been a win/win.
