If you guys want to play this game I could always argue that Lange upped the speed to the point where Demuth had to ride over his head keep up and went down and wound up injured.
Of course like your arguments that would be pure speculation.
Since both have beaten each other on numerous occasions when each was healthy and "at the top of their game" it's a futile argument that can't be won with statistics.
It was great to see two riders at that level in a series where they were pushing each other to go faster every time they were on the track together. You haven't seen that very lately in the premier series.
Of course neither Josh or Darcy has as many titles as Antunez racked up......
.....just saying.

I can't prove Demuth on the top of his game was better than Darcy on the top of his game; it's simply an opinion.
Antunez does have more wins and more titles, but both Josh and Darcy really upped the series and showed more domination in a shorter period of time. I just don't feel Buddy had the same presense o nteh track that both Demuth and Lange possessed.
I feel bad counting out Chad Johnson in this discussion, but unless he comes out guns a blazing like the beginning of his first championship run I don't see him beating Josh Demuth. Keep in mind, just one year ago Demuth skipped the 2nd round and still was only 2 pts behind Chad Johnson at the end of round 3...
Maybe the real Tom Hofmaster will show up to the races this year and give these guys a run for their money all season. Maybe Teddy Maier will be in the series and live up to his potential every weekend. Maybe the mysterious three from Williamsmotorwerx are going to dominate everyone.
I just wish Des Moines was the opener, this waiting around crap sucks.
Anyone know what teams are racing this year?
I think Kyle Beaton might be doing them all, but last year Facciotti missed at least one. Klatt isn't riding them at all from what I hear. JSR's going to be at the first round, who knows after that?
I think everybody's still trying to find a ride for next year, or looking for something outside Canada if they can get it.
Brock Sellards
Robbie Reynard
Josh Demuth
Kelly Smith
Leighton Lillie has been working hard and putting in some quick laps at the wyvern test track.. hopefully he does well in arenacross, he is riding for the same team that sellards and kelly smith did this past season
my buddy tanner alexander is racin the west coast arenacross' this year, he hasnt been training that much anymore so i dont know how his fitness is, but he has speed.. he had a solid 3rd in sacramento before some spaz took him out (same guy who took out cory green on the last lap when he was being lapped)
You dont win over 100 events and 6 titles and not have a much larger presence than either JD or Darcy. Dont get me wrong, both of those guys were dominant and are no doubt 2 and 3 on the all-time list, but the Budman is and forever will be the King of AX. Period.
The reason I say JD and Darcy were more dominant is because the way they won when they won.
Budman ruled the series for a long period of time and ended up with like 105 wins or something like that? But that was spread across 6 championship seasons, and those were the days of 2 nights, 2 classes, 18 round Arenacross series'.
In 2003 Demuth won 33 main events in one season. He always struck me as more dominant the way he could come through the pack and still end up on TOP of the box... not just top 3. How often would you see Budman start at the back and win? Not that often, but a lot of times he'd start in the back and get up onto the podium.
In the two years Darcy won titles, he won 28 and 29 main events. That's 57 wins in 2 years. Over half of Budman's total which took him 6 or more to get to.
I couldn't find stats back before 2002-2003 season to compare more.
Maybe Budman would have been my choice had he not always had a #3 RM ramming into the side of him, maybe he had more competition, it's all speculation.
He as the original king of AX..... Budman was more of the Caesar. He ruled... by force.
Denny- shut yer mouth when yer talking to me!
the budman era of arenacross was definitely the Hayday though... stacked field, packed seats, a plenty of fun.
I miss seeing denny's dad swinging the pit board at lappers that wouldn't get out of the way.. (I was one of them once).

You all need to recognize old school OG's
Fuggin Noobs.
Buddy was dominant and then he headed back to SX/MX, opening the door for Josh and Darcy. When Buddy came back he was older and not quite the same.
Demuth and Lange were both wickedly fast, and stepped up the pace in arenacross. But Buddy owned the series when it was in its prime, against the stiffest competition, including those two guys. I'd rank 'em
1) Antunez
2) Lange
3) Demuth
4) Hawthorne
TUF. racing just signed a 125 Profeshenal. It’s Soo exciting
