Hello All, Over the long weekend a few weeks back I picked up a 1988 RM250 from the original owner. It was stored from 1996 till about a month ago when the owner decided to sell. My plan is to go through everything and make it as close to new as possible. Caliper and master cylinder rebuild parts are here along with a seat cover and a few other little things. That being said I have searched for a replacement stock or aftermarket pipe but have come up empty handed so keeping an eye out for that if anybody knows of one? I know one year only so will probably be a tough find. I sealed up the stock pipe to put air to it but it is leaking air near the head seam so air and heat won't fix the dents yet..... I am going to look local and see if I can find any one that can braze that leak up and get the big dent out if I cannot locate a decent after market pipe. After cleaning the former critters nest out of the air box, going through the carb and tank and fresh fuel it started on the 3rd kick. Parts very hard to come by for the 88 RM250… I own 1, garage queen status due to parts situation…….
@sandman768 kind of weird the way I acquired it. In the middle of collecting parts and starting a resto on a '74 Yamaha TY250 and kept seeing this RM on CL, price got down to reasonable and I went and looked and got it even much lower. I've had many 250 & 500 MX's back in the 80's and 90's so thought it would be a fun project to add to my garage. I saw and read over your post on you restoring yours and gave me inspiration!
FWIW I bought the TY from the original owner as well.

Awesome! I had that same TY250 20 years ago!
