1. “Too masculine” is funny. Do you not think there are masculine gay men? Do you know how fit gay guys are? Do you know how good they are at being dads? Do you know how many run enormous businesses? Whatever you think masculine is, I promise there are gay men who fit the definition. Masculinity is not the reason gay men aren’t flocking to motocross.
2. You all forget about lesbians. Do you know what kind of girls play sports after Little League? I’m not saying all women who play sports are gay, but there’s a serious skew in that direction once you get to college and the pros. Same for motocross.

Never once have i seen a gay couple roll up in the pits and unload their kids bike to race. I have been to thousands of races.
The sport is a core family sport.

Right, because the environment is not welcoming to these hypothetical gay motocross families, and never has been. Not because it’s a thing gay people naturally wouldn’t enjoy participating in.
You say “core family” and I hear “white conservative.” The adult you’re talking to right now loved motocross as a kid, spent a lot of time at the track, and felt extremely alienated all the time. Today I don’t go because I do not feel comfortable or welcome there. Honestly I wish I didn’t love the sport as much as I do, and this forum has a lot to do with that.
Feld is not trying to “market gay pride to straight families.” They are trying to tell gay people that they are welcome here and the entire digital fan base responded with “no they are not!”

That’s all the post is doing. There might only be a .01% of riders who are gay, but I’m sure when they see a post like that it really means a lot to them, especially after seeing all of the vitriol and bitterness to them. There’s probably riders who are gay or bi but would never come out knowing this is how so many people in the community feel about them. It’s not about forcing an agenda down anyone’s throat, it’s just about telling a group that they’re welcome.
It’s a family sport, and I think families of all kind should be welcome

To all my friends involved with running SMX, you are trying way too damn hard to be relevant and they’re are soooo many ways that you’re “doing it wrong”. While I am proud of you and what you’ve accomplished, you really need to take a step back…take a moment…and be much more aware of who cares about what…and when…and why.
All of us…we are just a bunch regular peeps enjoying racing. That’s all. Leave that other shit outside the gate. Please.
