Where did they wear the trackers? On their wrists? That would be a nice addition. It would also be cool if they added a camera in their helmet or front number plate so you can see POV like F1.

I remember like early 2000’s maybe even late 90’s they did it during the Tour de France and it was awesome. I wanna say maybe around 2003 they stopped. If they did do it in MX I think it would go a long way to show that it’s an actual sport and not just monster trucks

fax , its the little things they can do to enhance the sport further , we can keep the drones but bring back the go pros & helmet cams , implement this system with the heart rates etc…

Definitely. Some of the MXGP guys release their go pro race footage and the quality is awesome. If NBC had 3-4 of these for each class with a live feed the guys would be fighting over who get to wear them each weekend

I could of sworn in the mid 2010’s we were getting HR data in the broadcast at times. Am I crazy?

I remember seeing heart rates being displayed on screen during the nationals one year, but I think they were just experimenting with it.

I think now the teams and riders would probably be too secretive about heart rate data even though it’s not really comparable from athlete to athlete. Some GNCC riders have shared race heart rate data before. Three hours at 170+ bpm average is amazing!

I’m sure the teams and trainers would rather not have it out there. Stupid if you ask me.

As a fan, I think that would be great to see. There would be endless ways to nerd out on that information, while watching battles.

However, in a sport where we’re so secretive about what parts a team is using, it seems pretty far-fetched that teams would willingly give up what is arguably the most important data to their competitors.

As long as Insta360 is the series' sponsor and not GoPro, I'm ok with not having helmet/POV cams. I hate those freakin' things.

I think a live accelerator, brake and clutch usage like other motor sports would be interesting as well.

That could easily be achieved using litpro I believe.

With you two confirming what I thought happened, I'm onboard with this - it was some time ago, as you say.

Also, do you remember when they had the Speeds shown?

It didn't last long, as, the numbers, to the average drongo, really were Not impressive. Them being used to 100 + MPH figures from so many motorsports, then seeing 30 / 40 / 50mph, sort of 'lessened' many (idiots) view of our sport.

We, who ride, know full well how bloody fast 30 mph is through whoops , corners, when compared to 'us'. And, that the speeds down Glen Helen Hills, and others ( I recall it was lucky to be in the high 40s / low 50s) that We know to be phenomenal to do , doesn't impress those that have no idea of the sport.

Its used a bit in World Cup Cross Country MTB. Adds another element as a fan. Would be cool to see in MX, but heart rate isn't everything. Everyone's HR is different. 1 guy could be at 170 and the other 185 but it doesn't mean the guy at 185 is going to tire and drop.

I had to read this a few times to work out if I agreed with you or not haha.. Turns out I do! and most of my favourite MTB vloggers have gotten insta360 sponsorship so I know why you hate them haha
