The track is no doubt miles better with the sand, versus the old days.

The problem is they still insist on plowing and watering to the point of a rut infested mud pit.  Most of us love a rough track with good berms, but can do without the slot car effect.

A lot of us that rode it back then wouldn't necessarily agree with it being better. Recently it seems like they have fine-tuned their prep, and it isn't nearly as quaggy in practice. In fact, it seems as if a lot of the tracks have tamed down the rip and water routine and the racing is usually better because of it imho. Hell, I think I saw some dust last year at a few places. Either way Red Bud is a legendary venue with an amazing history. I'm hoping to see a Tomac/Deegan win in a few weeks!

This just came up in AC and Brayton's Pro Moto preview. Around the 1:03:00 mark.
