Anybody race motocross on Long Island N.Y. with the Long Island Sports committee and or at Bridgehampton in the 1970's and 80's? I did, was involved with the club for some years and just started a website dedicated to it. The site is crude right now but hope to add a lot to it with the help, stories, photos and anything else from other racers and people that were part of it in any way. www.bridgehamptonliscmotocross.com

I was racing JR125 in the late 70's early 80's. Started on a Hodaka Dirt Squirt tricked out with a Dirt Digger kit then moved to an RM125.

I raced at Westhampton in 1989 at the old Go Cart sand track once. That place was awesome, but no where near as cool as the Bridge, which i raced for a few years from 1990 onwards, or at least when it was open. Nice site, keep it up. Dont forget about Rocky Point. I never made it there, but i heard it was cool.

Thanks mxnick! Rocky point was cool. But if it didn't rain the dust was nasty! Will be adding a lot more to the site as soon as summer slows down a little.

I raced 125 Jr's class in 76 and 77. I was out in 78 but raced 125 Amateur and Expert in 79. Number 551

I just came across this post. Nick I raced Rocky Point and Westhampton back in the late 80's. Long Island hosted the qualifier series in 1987 for Ponca City.

pn27416 are you still out there compiling info for the site?

I raced a Can Am MX2 125 in 1976 then switched to RM125 for the 77 & 78 seasons. Bridgehampton was a lot of fun back in the day. I have the bug to ride motocross again but not sure the old bones could handle it now.

I raced all the tracks mentioned. Westhampton was my favorite. I rode from 1984 to 1993. Mostly a Kawasaki # 717

I raced rocky point in the mid-80's... great track. Half hard dirt with nice jumps, half sandy hell on a kx80, always dusty in a big way. You can see that in the terrain difference still when you look at the map.

The track is completely leveled but the land is still there.. just another riding spot disappeared.

yhea...bridgehampton was one of my fav tracks back in 1977-1978,I won a few of 250 & open expet races there and was always top five.
It was the only way to get in shape for the florida winter series back in the day...sand,sand,and more sand !!!!

And then there was... Suffolk Meadows,The old horse track.The Bridge was my fav.What a shame.Dont forget we still have that track in Yapank.I may go try it this season. Jay #945.

Thats right, suffolk meadows! That place was cool, but a little creepy with those rusted out grandstands and dead birds everywhere. I had some battles there with that Eddy holohab or whatever his name was.
