Widest Boots/Lowest Height

Edited Date/Time 4/16/2025 8:13am

I know there have been many threads on this and think I have searched most of them.  My issue is I have a crazy wide foot and am short!  5’4 with a short inseam…I know…sucks.  Anyway, I tried a pair of SG22 and I found the height of the boot was an issue for me as my lower leg is obviously not as long as others and the boot caught me behind the knee in the seated position.  They were just too “tall”.  I thought about bringing to boot maker to see if they could modify the soft cuff in the back of boot but that just seemed like an extreme option at this point.  So I have been looking at a few other options.  I have tried a Sidi CrossFire 3 TA which was supposed to be wider…and it is….but even a size “up” hurts my foot right in the middle by the arch…still too narrow.

Does anyone know the “height of a Forma Predator 2.0 boot?  Unfortunately I haven’t been able to try many because local dealers just aren’t carrying stuff locally like they used to.  Also, because I am short and the boots ride higher on my leg it creates the same issue as having really wide calves.  So I was looking at the models with an adjustable calve like the SG, Forma, and Sidi Crossfire Series.  I hear the Sidi X-Power SC is a very wide boot also but concerned about the narrow upper portion with any kind of knee protection.

I have older SG10’s and can still get them but wanted to go with a model that is current and not discontinued.  Plus I run into the calve issue because not adjustable around the calves.

So…Forma Predator 2.0 look interesting and is said to run wide but looks as tall as the SG22.  Anyone have a comparison as Forma directly did not answer my email and no phone number to call.

I would of course like to put my foot into the Fox Instinct 2.0 and Tech 10 but I have a feeling they are both gonna be on the narrower side for my damn flippers!

Thanks!

Sidi Crossair and Crossair X are wider than the Crossfire 3 from mid foot forward. They might be a hair shorter but are probably the same height.

Any idea how the width compare to the Crossfire 3 TA?  I know the SRS is def too narrow of a sole.

Wider than the TA from midfoot forward. There may be a little more room in the ankle too. I always had to break in a TA in the ankle area or it hurt. I did not need to do that with the Crossair. The toe box is more squared off than the TA too which is where some of the room comes from. My forefoot/toes are a tight fit in a size 44 TA and there is room to move my toes in the size 44 Crossair. They fit bigger than a size 10 Tech 10 which Astars also calls a 44.5. The X model has adjustable shin plate like the Crossfire 3. If you watch Chase on RMATV he says his calves fit the standard Crossair. He has trouble with some boots being too small in that area. RMATV has a boot comparison on youtube between SG22, Tech 10, Crossair, Fox, and I think Leatt. You should check that out.

Have you considered trials boots?  They’re basically one “buckle” shorter than a traditional MX boot.  I have a wide foot and the A* Tech Ts fit excellent.  Before that I had Gearne Balance, which also fit great.

Downside is that the newer moto boots have a lot more armor in them.  That and they typically have a fully-logged sole.
