"Alessi, your bike just won a world champ"

WRONG! alessi bike DID NOT win a world championship !

tony cairoli bike is built and managed by decarli racing (a team with many world championship titles ) THE BIKE THAT WON A WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IS A DECARLI RACING MANAGED 350 KTM

Caroli and Alessi are two different people racing two different series.

Why do their wins and losses constantly have to be lumped together because they're supposedly riding the same bike?

Congratulations to Antonio but stop using his success as a way to further the anti-Alessi sentiment on this forum.

The point is Alessi can't blame the bike when it is dominating the World Championship

Have you heard him say he's getting blown away off the gate, that's not too good.

That's not what happened to 500's. There's plenty of secrets we'll never find out about the pro's bikes, and it probably wouldn't make any difference to 350 buyers anyway. With every single report suggesting it's not got 450 power I can't see how someone would buy it thinking it did.

I'm still waiting for someone to explain how it's under powered at Colorado, ( I assume that's why AC was debating using the 450) but not under powered everywhere else to?

He said he's doing everything he can but getting blown away 10' off the gate, coincidentally the part of the track where everyone want's all the power from whatever bike they're on. And he stopped himself mid sentence, maybe realizing that statement is hard to interpret any other way than it's the bike.

It's proven in the fact that the GP's run the "Works rule" and our series runs the "production rule". Aside from sound their bikes are allowed far more progressive.

other then the pipe difference and a little in the gearing the bikes are alot alike . i just dont get how tony went from a poor starter on the 450 yamaha last year to a great starter this year on ktm 350 .

Well said,I forgot about the noise limit and as I said, worse grade fuel,AMA bikes have that advantage, all this talk is speculation,Cairoli is head and shoulders above Mikey,he's more adaptable and skilfull, great at testing and set up and has a far better team around him, plus Mikey has issues with his Fitness,he has lost his way big time this year, right from the start things never went well in Europe before the season began, when it did he went 4-1 and did well at GH (mind you in the 2nd race he faded and wasn't looking good at all ) but he has slowly deteriorated,it's a real shame, but look at the change between last year when he was on Suzuki and then switching teams,it's a major change of circumstances and alone can't be easy at all

The sole reason for "it's not the bike" is because AC's doing well, lets look at a few things we know then.

We know Mike has to be on a 350. we know AC doesn't.

We know Mike's getting pulled in parts of the track where riders can use everything the bike has.

We know Mike says he can't blame the bike but he also says he's doing everything he can but getting beat off the line.

We know his competitors that have spoken about it all think it's a disadvantage, and we can see the shitty starts, uphills, etc.

We know it's obviously less bike to start with, as evident in every review whether a mag or an actual owner.

So, we have all the above weighed against AC's doing well but doesn't actually have to be on a 350.

Seems logical there would be doubt about AC's bike. Anything you would add about the 350? Any GP teams secretly running a 350 or developing one? Any of AC's competitors looking forward to the day when everyone is on 350's?

Do you, people, really think Cairoli`s bike hasn`t been torn apart by technical inspectors at some point this season? And do you really think that Big4 would remain silent if it wasn`t 350? WTF.

Then came back later and did another 45 minute moto.

Alessi and great starts used to be synonymous. When the gate dropped, you could count on 800 rounding the corner in the top 5, and very often in the lead.

Which begs the question: why did Alessi agree to campaign the 2010 series on the 350? KTM's logic behind the bike is less weight + less brutal power = less exhaustion and an overall better result. However, this theorem does not apply during starts, where there is no substitute for raw power and acceleration.

As mentioned, Mike's racing history is loaded with holeshots. However, he also has a history of falling back and getting passed. It's easier for any rider to defend his position from the front than battle through the pack. With Mike and Tony's rabid devotion to reaction times and starting technique, we're left to think that either A) the 350 was a better overall machine than KTM's 450, or Cool KTM did not give Alessi the option.

The 350 is probably a factor, but not THE factor, in why he has not performed to expectation. Mike's a better rider than his results, and Camp Alessi is probably focusing on 2011.

What would they be looking for, to verify it is indeed a works bike free to do whatever?

Maybe it's the same tear down rule the AMA doesn't enforce
