I’ve got a 94 yz250 and need a new throttle housing. Anyone ever put a newer model Yamaha housing on a older bike?
Yamaha made a YZ150?
Been changed buddy, sorry to confuse you
Yes I have done it before I'd stick with one from a yz125 / 250 two stroke.
The throttle housing doesn't really care what bike it's on. But must consider proper throttle cable length / routing. Cable ends fits the carb slide.
Fits into the top of the carb, Fits the throttle tube. Will allow proper slack adjustment.
I put a pwk off a 03 ktm (long body) on a 94 ktm 300. With a late model cr 250 throttle housing using a CR500 / 250 throttle cable. Worked great.
As above you can pretty much use any throttle you want if you can find a cable to suit the throttle and carb combo.
On my 1989 RM250, I'm using a 08+ RM/RMZ throttle. I also upgraded to a 08 carb, so that made the throttle cable dilemma easy.
Does the 94 YZ use a Mikuni carb? Or a Keihin? Either way a swap to a more modern carb would likely be pretty easy if you want to go that far.
