Because it looks so bad on TV when they scratch their balls, so they touch their helmets to take their minds off the feel of the sand in their shorts.

I thought RC said he wore a lot of Bell helmets when he was younger and they didn't fit his head correctly and the front always moved up and was constantly pulling them down, hence the habit of tugging the helmets.

James Stewart and Reed have done it too. Obsessive compulsive disorder - like locking your front door, leaving and then walking back to make sure it's locked even when you k now it's locked. Some people just can't help but do it. RC was the first I've seen do it but I can't imagine kids wanting to do it simply because it "looks cool"

I always have to reach up move my helmet down mid-moto to get my crack pipe out of my mouth.

Even if I monkey with my helmet before riding...it still takes 2 or 3 laps of playing with it til it feels right and I don't notice it. I've had lots of different brands and it's always the same. Maybe having a head like a Flintstone bowling ball has something to do with it. What's weird is that I can do these "adjustments" at speed with no problem but if I conciously try to reach up for a tear-off, I'll nearly lose control and kill myself...I suck.Unsure
