I understand the appeal too, more competition, larger scale races. I don't agree with how much $$ you spend for how little track time you get, but what can you do? These tracks need to make money and these are great ways to subsidize the rest of the year. IMO it would make sense to link these "spring nationals" together as a unified series.

There's also currently a rift raging amongst Texas' moto promoter factions. And I just heard recently that Texas is home to 45 operating tracks. That's a heck of a lot, even for Texas. On the other hand, last weekend's opening vet-oriented MotoMasters series had 225 entries at Johnsonville MX. All-time high for them.

Texas has 200-300 entries they're saying?

NGPC last weekend at GH had 1,831 entries. Number of places to ride means nothing if there's nobody there.

For most of them, it’s about spending time with family and having fun. I would spend way more than that on a family ski vacation. I promise you.

Bottomline is there are just to many so called Amateur Championship races.

Yep, offroad racing is surging all over.  The GNCC races get huge turnouts.

Bottomline is off road is a much better value for your time and money and just as fun or more fun.

Yes more competition but it's also a moto vacation for many if not most. Pretty good chance "Little Timmy" is just there to compete and have fun with his family with no delusions Mitch is watching the 250C class.

If you go to JWTF tomorrow, there's going be about 25 little Timmy's willing to die before they get passed by a carpenter.

IMO the fighting happened when an outside promoter came in and tried to cause division. Same thing happened with same promoter in Oklahoma a year before 🤔 Get that promoter out of the state and TX and OK will be just fine.

I've heard same. Another thing I think that's going to have some impact on ridership is that Texas Vintage Racing Club's (TVRC) long time president Tony Mosely stepped down this past year. TVRC Series has been packing gates for usually around 8 events a year, run back to back, Saturday/Sunday, with MotoMasters. TVRC always also showed up in force at the nearby AHRMA nationals. The only party willing to take the club on were Cole Johnson and April Johnson (Johnsonville Farm MX-which is a good thing). But the cohesion and camaraderie of our little old fart gypsy caravan may suffer. Tony and wife Val pretty-much organized and energized the whole thing. Socialized all the events, held award banquets and raffles (I won a freaking KX250 a couple of years ago!) Believe it or not, old guys introduce a lot of new fans and riders to the sport. I hope we can continue to do it.

Hmmm Nacona is still open you say ? I'm just glad to have places like River Valley and hopefully the new Village Creek for us weekend warriors. Mosier , Lake Whitney and Burleson are gone for good.

I have no idea. Hard to keep up with them all. Just when you think a place might be closed, someone tosses a "Come ride with us" IG post .

Anton Nordstrom won the Pro Sport Supercross “title” by being the only one that showed up.

Wasn’t there some talk last year of freestone no longer being a “mini-major”?

This has to have been the gnarliest track I have ever seen in all the years of Freestone, including the Nationals. Track was Gnarles Barkley.
