i'm 41 and have always had hearing problems.  one of my biggest issues is wax build-up.  my ear Dr claims he's never had a patient with as much wax as me.  i have to go 2-3 times per year to have them cleaned, sometimes it plugs off completely and i'm deaf for a couple days until i can get in.  it fucking sucks. i clean my ears once or twice a week and still get crazy blockage.  my dad has had hearing aids for about 7 years now and i have no doubt i'll be going down that same road sooner than later.  open restaurants and venues are a nightmare, i can't hear shit just nod and play along with whatever someone is saying.

Do you use ear drops? They really help to dissolve the excess if you use them regularly.

I had a recent conversation with my older sister , a retired nurse. She said we do not have ear wax build up because we take baths rather then shower. Dunking our head, and thus ears in the warm  water when we wash our hair helps was her theory. It plays out because I lived for a number of years in a place that only had a shower and I got a bad blockage of black wax once and regularly had to q-tip my ears out. When I moved into my current place that has a tub and I was able to take my preferred baths the wax buildup stopped.

I cant find an "I don't know" emoji otherwise I would post it.

To put a deafening book-end to that upbringing,  ole Uncle Ted pummeled my head relentlessly for hours in 2005.  Literally 8' from his PA.   What wa I thinking?  LOL

My ears have been ringing since I saw Uncle Ted in 1978
