This is a stupid rule. Chase isn't employed by the AMA; he works for KTM. (Actually, it's not even that direct - he works for Chase Sexton, who is an independent contractor, most likely incorporated, and hired out by KTM.) If KTM has media stipulations in his contract, they can penalize him for failing to perform. The AMA should have nothing to do with his own media relations. 

AMA fining Sexton for not showing up to an interview is like Toyota fining me for not getting a recall done on my car.

How would we know? Have seen no media reports until this came out that Chase skipped an interview. They typically only interview the podium guys, although seem to have made more exceptions to this trend this year

You did see the portion of the rule book posted, right? The rules they agree to upon sending their entry for the race…

I don't disagree but as an analogy the FIA fines drivers and imposes forced labor if they swear on Liberty medias broadcast.
