There’s too many riders In the main IMO. It’s only making the racing frustrating & the sport more dangerous.
Run maybe 16 in the main A, top 7 to transfer directly.
Still run an LCQ with 2 to main A while rest of riders go to main B making up another group of 16.
Two mains have been brought up in the past and never seemed to gain traction. But out of any of the suggestions that I’ve seen, it definitely makes the most sense.
I'm in favor of the AMA actually enforcing rules around riders who ignore the waving blue flags by black flagging them. I get that sometimes they are in a battle of their own, but they need to realize nobody gives two shits about their battle for 17th place versus 16th place. They made it to the main event, act like they have been there before.
When Deano cock blocked Kenny where were you man?
Now we got a nobody? Get bent.
It was also 100 % on Ken. He tried to thread the needle, gambled and lost. He was the rider that did not hold their line.
It was a miracle he didn't get clipped by the cartwheeling bike.
Yes exactly. In general the focus is on the lead, yes coming through the pack is also fun to watch, but guys who are way out the championship battling for 19th would be better placed racing for a win in a B main.
Could pay same points for a B victory as 17th in main for example.
Racing would surely be more enjoyable for everyone?

Both of Ken’s crashes last night we’re at least 50% his fault
3 wide in the sand /fail.
I don't believe the lapper's are helping the sport of SX any....but it's part of racing as we know it.
I think a 20 rider gate should be max in SX.
And if a rider is lapped more than once or is involved in any carnage/blocking with other riders lapping them- black flag them and credit them with the place they were in.
I thought the issue on the start was a simple racing incident that had no bearing on the main event. Ken Crashed. No reason to be pissed about that, especially at Benny. Ken could have backed out and not crashed, but regardless no issue. He easily made the main. As for the second issue, the rule states regarding flags: BLUE: Indicates you are about to be overtaken by faster riders. Hold your line and don't impede their progress. Roczen was being impeded and the lapped riders were not holding their line (or else they wouldn't have crashed). Yes, Ken could have waited until a safer section on the track, but he was making up tons of time on other riders in the sand section. Cant fault the guy for trying to win a race.
The key to the blue flag rule is to not impede the faster rider. If the blue flag isn't being respected and is repeatedly disregarded, they need to be black flagged.
Anderson was directly behind them and said it was not Kenny’s fault, you can see the lapper drift over. In the moment it appeared that Kenny had more than enough room to go between the riders. Should he have waited? Sure, but he didn’t, and an unfortunate event happened, but I wouldn’t put 100% of the blame on Kenny.
Webb and Ando said it best on the press conference, the lappers need to stop racing eachother when the blue flag comes out and let the leaders go by first.
Not sure if you caught it but he felt Benny forced the other rider into him. I agree about it being a racing incident and Benny appeared to own it.
It’s time to eliminate the 250 split so the series has a higher skilled concentration of riders in the mains. The disparity between the top riders and lappers is dangerous. 17-22 places have no business being in a main event with Eli, KR, Webb etc
Watch the video, Ken drifts to the left on him.
Hand drifted more than Kenny in my opinion
No , passing lappers is part of Motorsport ,
And the smaller fields is wsx took away from the spectacle imo
Kenny sent it into the dude from behind. 100% his fault. I guess you have never ridden much sand. The bike moves all over the place.
Lappers are a part of racing, the blue flag signals to the lapped riders that faster traffic is coming through and to hold their line. Kenny got anxious and tried to thread the needle in the sand and it bit him. Racing incident, can’t really expect anyone to hold their line in bottomless beach sand.
It wasn’t Kenny’s fault, but when he’s trying to thread the needle in the sand with foot deep ruts, he knows it was risky.
I feel bad for Hand, I’m sure it is weighing on him this morning too and he did nothing wrong.
These ruts were gnarly and took their toll on several riders-
Seems like every week something doesn't go right for someone's favorite rider and they start a thread proposing to change the fabric of the sport. Lappers are a part of racing, 10 rider gates would suck, and nobody would be interested in watching the B main. It would just be another segment to fast forward through.
Pit Row
Go watch it back in slow mo. Hand drifts more than Kenny does and they come together. Kenny holds his line WAY better than Hand does. Regardless, it is unfortunate and avoidable.
Good focking grief..... I weep for this sport.
While we're at it, let's just race these guys one at a time around the track....
No Deegan or Friese this week to hate, so it's lynch mob the lappers week.
Yes but Kroc always whines it was someone else's fault. Benny should have smacked him.
NO
The lappers thing has been beat to death and discussed on here many times over the years.
I just don't see it helping the sport any. It's like watching a martial arts tournament (battle royal ) and a championship match is going on and a guy who was already been beat jumps up and sucker punches one of the guys in the championship match or even both. That is how stupid it looks to a lot of folks in the mainstream - that casually watch.
Do we watch LCQs? Hell yeah. The racing in the B main would most likely be better than most of the A mains…
The vitards do when it's for certain riders..
Webbs idea for lappers at a minimum should be enforced. Riders getting the blue flag should slow up and move to the side of the track until the blue flag stops waving for them. No passing for them while the blue flag is waving. Harsh penalties if they ignore it.
IMO they should be black flagged and disqualified if they ignore it. They shouldn’t be racing the guys lapping them and taking up the width of the track. Kens championship chances took a massive hit because of them. He would have had the red plate and another podium if not for lappers.
Bro give it up. His right is left and his left is right and so is he.
Don't we already have this with the LCQ's? Sounds like the OP is just advocating for a lower rider count in the main. OK. Make it 6 transfers from each heat, and 4 from the LCQ/B Main for a total of 16. Not sure I agree with doing this but I DO think that there are too many riders trying to get through a tight first turn. There are a lot of crashes in turn 1 on the starts. I would be in favor of a staggered start or two gates... one behind the other. The heat winners should get more of an advantage on the start of the main.
They need to do something. You shouldn’t have guys going for it in 17th place as the leaders are coming through. Half of these guys aren’t trying to get out of the way. I know the rule, hold your line. It just doesn’t work. You have guys trying to make up time as the blue flag is waving. Lappers deciding championships is not what you want.
