I got a little info on the brace today. For one, they are in production right now and there will be a press release coming out in the next few weeks. Alpinestars is still working on the price as of today, but said it will be competitive with the Leatt. The actual release date should be sometime this summer. On thing that I was particularly happy to hear is that you will be able to get these through Parts Unlimited.
Alpinestars is pretty serious about this thing. Apparently they have been working on it for the last 4 years and have gone through a ton of prototypes in the process. They want to get it totally right on first try and avoid having to come out with a "better version" a year after the release.
Any of you guys currently wearing the Leatt brace think you might make the switch once its released if it seems different enough in a prositive way? I actually just got a Leatt and think I might try it if thats the case, especially since I could get it through PU.

Yeah, I will ditch the $400 I spent on the Leatt, and spend another $400 on the A-star brace. <sarcasm button>
That's what I do. Don't you?

Then, I'm sure you realize Motodrivers are VERY SLOW to swap bandwagons...or, at least they are VERY SLOW! I just can't remember which!

Well, A-Stars are distributed by PU exclusively, so that would be logical you find this through PU. Yes, that's kind of the info A-stars has been releasing since the dealer expo, 4 years, version 7 on The Chad right now, released in the Summer, price range around the $350.
I think a good number of people will change, some are already moving to the EVS and the rest, which wasn't sure about the Leatt, may go with the A-Stars because of the brand's reputation.[/quote:1u8oasxx]
I would definitely consider getting the A-stars brace (and selling my leatt) granted that it provides equal neck protection that leatt has delivered but without the notorious collar bone breaks. To second your comment about A-stars rep, I doubt anyone would argue that the company (and especially the owner) would produce anything less than a top-of-the-line product with the potential to be a leader in that category.
