Could we see Reed retire at the end of the nationals??

Says on his twitter that he is having a meeting with his agent and his wife and has to make BIG decisions.

This coupled with his double DNF from a neck injury last weekend (when have we ever seen an injury hold Chad back before when he's after a championship) and his other tweet saying that he hasn't been able to sleep in 2 days thinking, leaves a lot to ponder about Reedys future.

hopefully if chad does retire someone steps up, because nobody knows what james will do and it would really suck to lose the 3 best riders weve seen in awhile in 3 years
7/22/2010 5:00pm
the facts are chad has nothing to prove!

This season has been the most inconsistent of his career and I can't believe its the bike.

consistency was always his strength so maybe injury or family life taking its toll.

If he doesn't retire this year then it will be next I would guess but would be nice to see him go out a winner....

I said it at the beginning of the year, Reeds winning days are over. It's sad that our top riders are retiring before the age of 30 though. GO WINDHAM!

Hey Bobby you know what? You would do well to stop projecting your disillusionment with Bikes and life on other people.

People everyday get up and go to work and deal with pain, injury and possible death. It's called life. When you understand why guys like Ricky James, Doug Henry, Josh Morros and Chris Ridgeway etc... get on motorcycles and go at as hard as they can then maybe you'll understand what a gift getting up in the morning is regardless of what pain or despair you may think you're dealing with. They are looking forward, without regrets, living the life they have.

If it's all this too much for Chad then its really too bad because the guy is one best riders to have ever swung a leg over a bike. If leaving the sport is a matter of no one will pay him to do it or he's moving to better things or get paid more to do something else that would be one thing and a whole lot different situation than leaving because "He's got nothing to prove" or "he's over it".
yer fucking telling me about ricky james and ridgeway? fuck off dickhead. i lost my leg at 18...riding the 500 nationals by myself (and kiki...thanks kiki) and doing well after being one of the fastest riders out of norcal ever. i went back to school got a degree, raced and won local races, went by current pros while doing it, got married to a smoking chick and had 2 great kids, got a great career and am pretty satisfied with my life. i';m fucking 50 years old and have already whipped up on the youngins and fuckballs like you..weak ass fuckballs...like you, just like you. so screw you. dick......

what have you done you simpleton? name em off boy....yup, fugures.

and yet yer stupid ass is telling reed what to do...?

guyb, if you must ban my name and shove that name up this guys bunger...what a dick.

man, i am sorry and apologize for the rant, but yer a dick man...always are on here at least. sorry jerk....seriously.

Bobby i will see you at Pala. You can say what ever you want to me in person however, I doubt you will just like the last two times I've been standing right in front of you. You don't have the corner on misery or success so don't lecture me on what I'm qualified to answer.

If and when this happens I feel we should all just thank the man for his time, his professionalism, and all that he brought to our beloved sport over the years.

So if you do make the decision to move on to the next phase in your life, well then...

Thanks Chad, your a true champion and will be missed...

I wouldn't mind him pulling the pin on this season, resting up and put in one last big effort to go out on top next year.

The dude deserves to go out on top. Whether he can is the big question.

Bob knows more about getting up every day, going to work and dealing with pain than you will ever know...it's called HIS life.

If you think that Ricky James, Doug Henry, David Bailey, or any of the other guys that you mentioned bounce out of bed every day with no regrets then you are dumb like a stump...dumber than the stump on Bob's leg, in fact. I guarantee they would be the first to congratulate Reedy on a stellar career if he decides to call it a day. They know more than anyone how dangerous it is to race bikes, and anyone who has done it at the highest level would agree that if you are not 100% committed, or have any doubts whatsoever, then you have no business being out there...because you WILL get hurt.

More power to Chad if he hangs it up. He was one of the best EVER and no one can even argue that. He's also set for life, so eat your heart out. He doesn't owe anyone an explanation for retiring, if that's his choice. Get over it.

I say V8supecars in Oz. The drivers have a real high profile here, as big as the stick and ball sports.

Most of them ride dirt bikes for fun together, he will fit right in.

Good luck whatever he does. It's been great watching his career, since I first saw him at Crystal Brook in about '98 on an RM250. You could tell he'd make it big time.

Good post Steve!

If Reed retires it would still be cool to see him do some selected events ,sorta like RC & MC did in their last year of the sport.

Worse part (as a selfish fan that wants to watch cool races), is if he does retire he'll leave a huge void personality wise. The robot generation are taking over!

Yes his winning days are over. I was talking about championships. Almost anyone of those guys can have a great day and grab an overall. He will never win another championship. Oh and I guess I need to clarify myself and tell you it was said over on supercross.com. I'm very aware of when I joined this site. Glad I could clear that up for you.

I think the only people who should thank him is the tissue company he was using to dry his tears as he cried and made excuses on the podium after RC continually took his championships. If you think for the better part of his career he wasn't a sore loser you are really blind and in love. Now he is cool about everything when he finishes second, third or whatever because the fire is GONE.
