Hello guys. I am Currently tearing down my forks to do an oil/seal/spring change. I know it’s a long shot with the forks being so old, but I wanted to know if anyone can help with the oil measurements for the chamber as I’m having a tough time trying to figure out the right amount of oil in order for me to be able to get the cap to screw on to the chamber threads. I’ve been following the service manual but I can’t seem to be able to get the threads going and I’m thinking it could be because of the oil level being too much. Also, the only way I’ve been able to get the threads going is by slow pulling down on the shaft therefore it makes a vacuum in the chamber and helping me screw in/on the cap. If anyone can give me some advice or tell me if I’m down it correctly I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance
Inside the cartridge there is a “ledge” where the base valve rests. As long as the oil is above that ledge it will bleed properly. Only needs to be about 1/4 inch above. Too much and the cap will be difficult to install.

Thank you @willbilly I will check on that tomorrow and get back to you, I hope you don’t mind. Do you have much knowledge on this model and year? Again, thanks!

as said above, the inner step is the go to mark if you don't know factory specs but for your 2008 were a little different from the 07 and below, for the 2008 its 187cm in the damper and 406.5 cm for the outer buddy, if you don't have the manual, if you fire me a email ill try sending it to you
I still own my 08 and ride it occasionally. It has 350 hrs on it and am happy to help you with any questions you might have. ThumperTalk also has a wealth of information on that model.
