Rich or lean bog

In this video I’m purposely getting on the throttle real quick from low rpm in 2nd. I can’t tell if it’s to lean rich or if it’s just bogging because you can’t expect it rev up that low rpm on a 125. If I ride it like you should just 700 more rpm’s it feels pretty good. Maybe I’m just dumb🤷

Also while I’m at it how long does a bike have to run before the spark plug reflects how it’s running?

Thanks man. I went up 2 sizes on the pilot. My air filter is drying right now so once it’s back on I’ll see if I need to go richer on the pilot or move the clip from 3 to 4.

Usually when it bogs like that you are only 1 away. GL!

If it's unresponsive you have an air leak.

It only bogs if I slam on the thorottle from low rpms. Where would the air be leaking from? The reed cage?

I just sprayed brake clean all over my carb while the bike was running. Nothing happened.

It could be anywhere, left of right crank seal, between crankcases, base gasket, reed block, and or carb manifold, the only way to be sure is do a pressure test.

Could the issue also be float height?

Unlikely, but it's easy to check to eliminate as an issue

Just an educated guess but if I was you I would split the cases and replace the main bearings/seals. Upon disassembly inspect mating surfaces and you should be GTG..

I don’t think it’s an air leak because the piloit did change something. I’m just bad at jetting and didn’t  understand that the piloit isn’t what I needed to change. I can tell that I’m to rich of the crack of the throttle. Before I was making much better power super low.

You guys are running down all the rabbit holes.  Splitting cases.. hahaa.   You are too lean on your slide and needle, as Digger told you in the other thread.  And now you are trying to find workarounds such as richening the pilot.   But the root cause is already known.

Yeah, an air leak causing him to be lean on the slide and needle, imagine that.

if he wasn't leaking going up 2 on the pilot would have paved oven that lean spot like a parking lot over paradise.

Read his other posts in other threads.   Digger gave him specific slide and needles to use.  He got leaner versions than those.  Now he's wondering why the bike is lean.   This is a more likely cause than he developed an air leak between the cases and needs to split them, especially considering we're talking a 1-2 yr old bike here, not some clapped out 20 yr old bike.  When troubleshooting it's important to understand the history and previous steps taken and apply common sense to follow the most likely causes first before resorting to the most unlikely.

Yes, because the 7.0 is even leaner than the 6.5.   Also, we have no idea what the rest of the settings are he's trying with this 7.0 slide.

Get back to me when all the internet jetting experts figure it out...

If you think it's bogging like that with the stock slide and one richer I got nothing for you.

Have you ever jetted or even ridden a new gen YZ125?   Get back with me when he splits the cases, cures his bogging and proves you right.

I just might do that. You seemingly think there is something special about the running characteristics of new gen YZ125 than every other 2 stroke ever built.

These bikes are especially susceptible to this type of bog due to the stock #7 slide. As soon as you go a step or two leaner on the stock 75 pilot it will likely bog.

Put the complete stock jetting back in the bike and test again.

I had gone riding in Texas and it was super muddy my bike was still acting up. I think it might be my clutch because I’m ringing it out and I’m going no where but it might have been wheel spin because of mud but I don’t think so. While higher in rpm’s it almost sounds like a rev limiter https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=C75ews2957c at 2 minutes you can hear it. Also my Jeting should be plenty rich 172m 48p 7slide and nydf clip 4

Also I was lugging it around a lot on purpose because of traction and the issue I mentioned.

Again, I think your 48 pilot is way too lean. Try a 68 if you're sticking with that slide and needle and drop the main a couple sizes to compensate.

Ok I will. But I wouldn’t think the pilot would make the bike not accelerate even though I’m reving up and the rev limiter sound.
