Maybe ML can answer this question but what gives? There's 500 videos of 2025 Yamahas and Hondas but nothing on the KX other than the intro at Washougal. With all the hype, im surprised vital and keefer dont have information out there. I know they say it felt "slower" than 2024 bike but with the 450 being choked up, id have to assume the 250 is in the same boat just waiting for a couple mods.

Parts have been super hard to get for it, I just got a PC pipe last week. Enough changed engine-wise, we're starting from scratch with ECUs, pipes, performance parts, etc.

Feels like this has happened with nearly every kx250 since 2020-2021. They seem to be searching for an engine package the last few years.

*ML beat me to it 😆*

Likely waiting for aftermarket companies to come out with some new products. That takes time.

I sound like a broken record, but what North American media has never mentioned (that a lot of the Europe media did) was the new muffler that is quite restricted in order to meet lower sound decibels. From what I understand a lower db requirement for manufacturers is coming, Kawasaki was just getting ahead of it with the intro of each new machine.

Many with the 450 have commented large gains with just a slip on muffler, the new 250 will likely be the same.

I tired two exhausts this last week. Sadly, it's not what I was hoping for. Mid-to-top gains were really good but bottom end and roll on character were basically unchanged...and this bike is lazy at low RPMs. Airbox/mapping might be a bigger gain on the 250 than 450.

Interesting, thanks for the feedback. I'll be following progress, as I plan on purchasing a 2025 KX250 this year.

On paper it looks great. I am beginning to wonder if the counter balancer is responsible for it's poor response. If you uncork it and it's still lacks snap something is going on.

You could be onto something with the counterbalance, after all it technically would be considered parasitic loss right?

I don't think the counter balancer theory Flys this is the 25 yz250f engine. It has had one for awhile now.

Cutting it close but Hope to have the 2025 KX250 Y hose kits by the end of the January 27 before leaving to drive to the motorcycle trade show in Las Vegas February 5th - 7th.

Developing all new products takes time.

In Europe, at least in France and Spain, nobody says that the KX has a slow engine or revs up slowly. Everyone agrees that the engine is good with linear power. It's ranked just below the KTM group and better than Yamaha or Honda. Moreover, unlike in the USA, Yamaha hasn't won a shootout here in years! Moto Verte, for example, establishes a ranking for pure performance and a ranking for the average Joe. The KTM group is ahead, but that's for its pure engine power, and the WP suspension (European settings) is well appreciated. Otherwise, for the average enthusiast, Honda and Kawasaki are often at the top with easier and more agile chassis.

do you think that has any thing to do with the type of terrain you guys have over there?

Stock airbox or have you tried cutting it up a bit?

Yeah maybe... nothing really similar to Glen Helen, the homeland of the shootout 😂
