It didn’t happen, but it is fine that it did.

Looks like I nailed it

Deegan leaks the story because he got his feelings hurt and in the end the real story was the Lawrence's made a wise business decision. There was nothing to be gained from the business side by having Deegan there and it would have decreased their take on the back end. Add in the personal drama, and nobody is signing off on that deal. Meanwhile it makes even more of a mockery of the Deegan MXON excuses.

Deegan was going to race for his country.

This is a very solid, neutral piece ML, and a great read. Thanks for going to such lengths to get all sides before publishing, rather than trying to be first.

TLDR? Whole thing is a "nothing burger". Lawrences are taking no start money but are partners in the event and get paid that way. Event is near sold out already, no need to spend $100k bringing Deegan over to detract attention from what is essentially a home coming party/celebration for the Lawrences, but the 2025 event could he very spicy if puzzle pieces fall into place.

I still fail to see how this has anything to do with MXdN but I'm also not one of those dudes like so many here that think Deegan is the cause of all the misery in my life.

To be fair man, all that sticks out for me from this year is when he was LAPPING little Hunter and the golden boy went out of his way to fuck with someone on the lead lap.

Remember that?

Do you hate Hunter too?

I mean Ando has pulled some moves in his career but I don't think any of them were as low class as being a lapper and fucking with someone on the lead lap.

You understand that we stand so far away from eachother on this that nothing you say, or in the way you say it will get you anywhere right?.

And grow up with the name calling, it’s a motocross forum, not middle school…

Are you really that sensitive?

Do you have a safe space that you can go cry in over the travesty of me calling Hunter the golden boy?

Will you ever recover?

Here comes the part of the thread where Jettbois think the story is good for them and Deeganites think it’s good for them. Next few years are going to be so stupid.

(It was good for Deegan, ftr, lmao)

Sounds like Razzle is playing you guys, just a couple of blokes giving it a crack my ass.

I think you're mistaken mate.

Australians fans will definitely be watching the best rider in the world in a week's time - in Australia.

I think the Deegans mostly care about the "friends" and people that help them make money....the followers.

Quick check....

Danger Boy = 1.6 million Instagram followers.

Donut Boy = 740k

I think ol' Deegs is probably pretty happy with the friends he's got.

Deegan showing up to race an exhibition race for a $100,000 paycheck is not racing for his country.  Racing MXON is racing for your country.

The notion that he needed the surgery done quickly or it would impact his 25 season was a lie from the get go and it was an obvious lie to anyone with a little medical knowledge. The fact that he was ready to ride by now is entirely predictable and not some pleasant surprise.

I would say becoming partners in a lucrative ongoing supercross event is more of a win than losing out on $100,000 payday due to your shitty behavior in the past.

I'm glad the Lawrence camp was open about that.  I suspected all along it was a response to Deegan's unseemly use of the Mr America schtick as an attempt to turn the fans against the Lawrences.

This is your opinion, you can't claim it's fact.

In general, yes, his surgery should have been (and was) a quick recovery.  But there isn't any guarantees with surgeries, what if something had gone wrong and it DID take longer to heal?

The fact of the matter is you don't have a fucking clue what the deal with his wrist was, quit acting like you do as THAT is a blatant lie.  Which makes this whole thing pretty ironic that you are pissed at Haiden for "lying" when you are telling blatant lies.

Can we believe anything you say or is it all fabricated lies in your head?

Are you guys missing the part where the Lawrence brothers get paid based on the profit of the event? And that at the time Deegan asked the profit had almost been maximized already? And that paying someone else tens of thousands of dollars with no potential return on that investment would be a very stupid thing to do? And that part of what you get paid for in these deals is the months of promotion you're a part of that the new guy wouldn't have been doing?

Take your personal feelings for either camp out of it and there is no sane world where doing this deal this late with tickets almost sold out already makes business sense.

I don’t know I just don’t think it’s right that riders are partnering up with these promoters especially if that race is part of a series. I get it if it’s an exhibition race but not part of an official series. No rider in a series should have say over if an other rider can race or not.

Did you even read the story? The Lawrence boys didnt think he was worth his starting fee for an event that was basically already sold out.

With no time to market him or anything. It was financially stupid to sign him up to race. The event sells out regardless of him. So why flush money dosn the toilet on an appearance fee for Deegan? Paying him to race cuts into profits which is where they make their money for the event.

I agree with this.  If AUSX Open were only a standalone exhibition event it would be fine.  Even though the Lawrences and Deegan would not be part of the larger series their presence would still have an impact on the results of other riders and therefore the series.

It all boiled down to why waste money on him for an almost sold out event with no time to promote or market him for it.

If they liked him that could havr changed things. But there was no upside into paying him hundreds of thousands of dollars to race when they couldn’t make it back.

Well aside from not being dragged through the mud by the Deegan camp and Cooksey putting a spin on it as thrm blacklisting him. Apparently not flushing money down the toilet on a rider racing is blacklisting now.
