this is updated photo of 1985 cr 250 with 1987 honda cr 250 swingarm 1987 cr rear disc brake system and 1996 xr 400 pivot plate. this is mock up only.still waititng on rear rim. once i get rim and measurements right i will weld pivot for brake petal and brake reservior . swingarm was a direct fit but i had to use 1985 lower linkage so rear shock would align a bolt up.

You could put an elephant into a phone booth with the proper tools and application of force.

But why would you?

you know before i got this bike i was seriously looking at those Chinese dirt bikes they are only about 1600.00. i told a friend about them and he said no don't do that those are no good. so he had a friend who had this cr sitting for along time, but he told me put some money into it and it would be far better than those Chinese dirt bikes. so i gave this guy 20.00 for this cr 250, it only had the front tire back tire and the bottom end. i found all the 1985 parts except for the 1985 top-end .so i have a 1984 top-end and a 1986 top-end i chose the 1987 top-end because it didn't need boring or replateing so i figured since i got it for so cheap and since i already have different year parts on it i might as well finish it off with a rear disc brake system. than i will finish by repainting.

Does it start? How's the power? I'm very curious.

yes it runs very good. I actually gained about 2 ccs. The 1985 jug had 246cc were the 1987 jug has 249 ccs the stroke is the same. It has a 1987 cr wisco piston kit and gasket set. I was not sure it would work but it does and the power valves work. it has alot of power. i just recently fixed the kick start , it would slip about every three kicks. Now i noticed its leaking water from this hole at bottom of water pump so i have to fix that . I found this web site that has all the old works bikes i think its called mxworksbikes.com. worksbikes.com Check out Ricky Johnsons works 1986 cr 250. I think alot of the parts do interchange.

Wow you really know your Hondas. Its good to get a possitive comment thks. Im going to use a1996 Honda xr 400 pivot plate to mount the master cylinder a 1987 cr 250 swingarn and brake system. The only problem i can see is mounting the brake peddle. Any suggestions?

this is updated photo of bike with rear rim. rim is from 1989 cr 250. i still need rear rim adjusters will order them today . i had to use chain from 2009 cr 450 as stock chain was too short.chain was a direct fit. i have metal for rear brake pivot and brake reservior so should have that weld on by next week almost done.

finally done with rear disc brake conversion. really not that hard. some of the things were just bolt on like the swingarm. i had to make the brake pivot and the bracket for the reservoir these had to be welded onto frame. its not exactly like honda did it but close enough for me. who said it couldn't be done. now i will disassemble bike and paint.
