So he probably should still be from Canada, after all it's the Canadians who've watched him race as a kid and have been anticipating him turning pro for the last 10 years. Sure his parents have an accent, but if you go to Canada you'll realize everyone has an accent, all from different places; hence multiculturalism: the identity of Canada. Now, go to MXForum.com com and do a search... any mention of the UK? nope. It's the Canadians who know him, the Canadians who rode with him (Kyle Beaton among others) and the Canadians who've given him the most support comming up. Now the Canadian's loyalty is getting shafted and guys like Cox are clueless. Yes he's from Scotland too, but for Speed to put a Scottish flag beside his name on the broadcast is just disrespectful everyone including the MXDN. Give it up you fucking psudo-journalists and do your goddam research.

Amen brother.

Unfortunately I think some of this is coming from the Wilson camp itself, Deano hasn't really said, "Hey Im Canadian, he's saying I'm a little of all 3 countries." But what pisses me off is he raced for Canada last year at the MXDN and now he's getting wishy washy about it. Before he was a name rider, Canada was fine to race for since England didn't want him, now that everyones pushing him about it, but now its too much to say "Hey, I raced for Canada last season, thats my country!!" Thats weak imho.

This weekend should have been about the first Canadian to ever win a US National, thats huge news, but now it doesn't feel like thats what happened because of all of this nationality crap.

I'm once again fully in the Barcia camp. :-(

Yeah has been Canadian until 4 weeks ago when speed put a Scottish flag next to his name. He was considered a Canadian when he was an Amateur and during the SX season. Now Europeans use him to fuel their stupid U.S. vs the World threads. Dumb.

He is from the Atlantic ocean he said it himself. lol

Uhh.. you need to take this up directly with Dean Wilson then. It was his request to have the flag changed according to DC, not Speed. I doubt Speed would give a damn.

'but for Speed to put a Scottish flag beside his name on the broadcast is just disrespectful'

The flag indicates country of birth. He's Scottish get over it.

Max Ansties paid his dues throughout his young career in the US just as Deano has in Canada and California. Anstie isnt getting his balls chewed for running the Union Jack is he. Really lame to here you crap talking him.

Apparently, there is absolutely and entirely refutable evidence that Dean's great grandfather - Wilson the Wicked - was a convict transported to Australia in 1868 courtesy of Her Majesty Queen Victoria. Accordingly, and based solely on these fallacious facts, there's more than insufficient evidence to suggest the Antidodes (a.k.a. Australia and New Zealand) may have some claim to Dean Wilson as our own.

It was actually the U.S. that wouldn't let him back in. It's easy to get into Canada... But you need a passport to get back to the U.S. now days.

SIMX: Fyi that faux pas at the border had nothing to do with the Canadian side. He was just stuck over here because of someone at C.B.P. doing their job. His ducks weren't in a row and trust me, from personal experience, you won't get into the country until they are. End of story. As Dean found out.

In the interest of international relations and Canadian Multiculturalism I present to you the flag that Dean should be running on speedtv.

Hey the Scot's shared curling with us, so we can share Dean with them. As long as we get him for the MXDN's

Actually, I don't think it had anything to do with C.B.P. at all. When crossing the border into the U.S. as a Canadian citizen, the U.S border patrol would have asked him the standard questions: where are you going, for how long, what do you do for a living etc. (At least that has been the majority of my experiences). I am guessing something would have been said about racing MX and doing it professionally, at which point Deano would have had to produce a legitimate work Visa which obviously was not in order, therefore he would have been turned back.

I never really understand it.If you are an ass, doesn't matter where you are from.If the fastest rider in the world is from your state or country, doesn't make you any faster or any less of an ass. If you personally know the guy or like who he is as a person/rider,that should be good enough to root for them. I don't get how these guys seem to think they are better, faster, smarter, cooler, etc. because a certain rider grew up an hour from them. Go out and make a name for yourself instead of hanging on the nads of a countryman or a guy from your state just so you can start stuff with other dudes who are equally hanging on another grown man's appendage.Tongue Just my opinion of course. Patriotism is cool and all,but another man's success is not your own.

Team Green: his Scottish passport says Scotland and his Canadian passport says Canada.

Seriously guys, he's a Canadian citizen so why shouldn't we want to claim him? A guy that can run up front in the US has been a dream of every moto fan in Canada for DECADES. We came close with JSR, and more recently Darcy Lange but to have someone actually win an overall is just over the top for us. It just seems that all involved just want to rob us of this tiny bit of National pride. Even some Americans are claiming him because he lives in the US most of the year.

I do find it disrespectful of the networks to call him a Scottish rider when he did indeed spend his amature career in Canada.

You guys can\t let us have just one??? Huh

Exactly, and what would Americans say if they went and changed all the history books to say Wardy was a Scottish rider? All hell would break loose no doubt!

Who else, but a Canuck would let another rider by 2 turns away from his first national win?

Listen to his accent, all he is missing is the "eh"

Just look at the guy, can't even keep his pants up since he's off the the back bacon.

Dude is as Canadian as me...... Eh

What is this "back bacon" you reffer to?
