Broken thumb and ribs. He was having trouble breathing, hence the airlift.

Maybe a little harsh for a guy that went 3-2 at hangtown, no ?

Wow,

Didn't hear that one when I broke some(twice) and showed up to work the next day!!!

The dude rides with no heart period. I respect the fact that he got hurt but that doesn't change how he rides...

I went to work next day, too, but the words pneumothorax and pneumonia did come up in the little lecture from the ER doc.

Luckily for me, unlike Davi, my regular job didn't involve wrestling a 450cc MX bike.

Let's ask our selves a simple question:

If you had 30 million dollars for your budget for racing one season (they probably have more.. but let's just say)

would you choose to currently spend that on Davi Millsaps, or would you pick someone else who is available?

That is the only question that matters for next season.

Personally, I would NOT choose him as it stand, despite the fact I KNOW he is more than capable and that he may have success elsewhere.

But I would hedge my bets on the slew of new 250f talent moving up that has already proven their work ethic (canard, weimer, pourcel) etc...

Steve, 30 years ago, I had a first turn encounter at High Point that broke all my ribs and the broken ribs punctured my lungs. I spent 19 days at WVU hospital with multiple chest tubes. Believe me , I DIDN'T go to work the next day. So the moral of the story is that there are different degrees of rib injuries that can occur.

Did they install your tube without the benefit of an anaesthetic? I've seen it done twice and I've only ever seen two inserted.

Broken ribs are always serious. The EMS staff at the track has no way of knowing for sure if anyone of the ribs that are broken has caused any internal damage. Someone should give you a cookie for going to work the next day. Your a total badass dude, and millsaps is a huge pussy for not refusing the hospital trip and racing the second moto. You would have, right?

As a matter of fact they did put 2 of them WITHOUT any type of anesthetic. So if you can imagine having a 2" slit cut into your ribcage and fingers spreading your broken ribs apart and what felt like a garden hose inserted 12" into your body, all the while not being able to breathe, it is not in my top ten of "best days".
As a sidebar to this story, Dave Sr. and Rita ( Coombs) came to visit me several times ,which I've always remembered. Classy family.

I'll never understand why "fans" worry so much about the factories and shit so hard on the riders.

Go give Honda another $8500 for the 2011 grenade they will call a 450.

I might be a dichead but Millsaps has slacked his way through 3 yrs at Honda. On one Week off 6 weeks and on and on. Hopefully this kid can get the its all about me and its never my fault traits out of him and be what he was suppose to be.

Millsaps has the talent to be great.

IMO, Being a Privateer for the next 1-2 yrs will give him a chance shit or get off the pot. He has no choice now.

What do you think honda race budget per rider works out to?

Just wondering... legitimately...I don't know, but I know honda spends a fortune on each riders equipment and behind the scenes on personal, engineer's time testing...I KNOW they rotate motors ever 1 hour of run time during sx...so let's guess one weekend in outdoors - and that each motor is over nighted to the motor shop after the race...worked over...and overnighted back to the next event (during sx).

Practice bikes...practice bike motors and suspension, etc etc etc.

That adds up!

Factor in bonus structure...I bet if davi won the title with a lot of podiums and race wins...it would cost honda more than 30 million a season to go racing the way they do...

Here is a professional racer with broken ribs being airlifted from a hot dusty track.
Here is a message board douche bag being critical.

You be the judge.
