Hello, this is my first post on here I hope I am doing it in the right place. I just wanted to come on here and ask y’all today about my e start bike, it’s taking roughly 30-40 seconds to start on a cold start, but after it’s been running for a little bit it’ll start right up. It never did this out the dealership or when I brought it home , this is a new thing that is starting to happen maybe at around 25 hours (I’m at 30 now) me and my grandpa thought it would be the spark plug but after changing it, that didn’t change anything , still doing the same thing. Now we are thinking it’s the fuel injection that needs replaced or cleaned. I have not rode the bike hard at all since owning, and I haven’t rebuilt anything. I’ve been ontop of the oil change changing it every 4-6 hours. Any help to get this resolved will be amazing. Thanks.
It could possibly be the coolant temp sensor is bad. This is what tells the ECU to richen the mixture for cold starting. It only costs like $22 and is worth swapping out just to eliminate.
It could also be low fuel pressure from an issue with the fuel pump. But in that case you'd likely get other bogging or symptoms once running. The pump has to be tested with a fuel pressure gauge to know for sure.
EFI bikes are pretty complicated and a pain to troubleshoot if you're a novice mechanic. Might be worth while to let someone fix it unless you are up for the challenge.
Cold, weak battery. Lithium Ion batteries need to warm up. Tap your starter once, just long enough to hear your fuel pump spool up but not enough to crank the engine. Wait 30 seconds and do it again. That warms up the battery. Do that cycle 2-4 times then give the start a try. If that works it’s a battery issue, very easy to check. If not, try the other stuff FGR01 said, those are also possibilities. If it does start after warming up the battery you can buy a lithium ion specific trickle charger and keep the battery charged when not riding it.
Okay . I’ll see if I can find one, but me looking up coolant temp sensor isn’t showing anything online, could there be another name for it? I’m not a big mechanic person lol but I just feel if I know the issue I can get it fixed. And to add the to the fuel thing it’s never bogged and hella responsive when I give it gas, so could it possibly be the battery like splat said or coolant temp sensor?
I normally do that, I press it once and when I hear the pump go I wait a second and then go, but I never tried waiting a while after I have pressed it like you said, I could try that tomorrow and see if it’s the battery. glad I got a warranty for it at Yamaha.

That made the bike start right up! I pressed the e start heard the fuel pump, waited about 15 seconds and did it again and waited another 15 seconds , and sent it and the bike fired right up! So I guess it is the battery , I do have one more question is it normal for 450s to pop ? Like when I rev the bike to high rpm’s and let off the throttle it pops or gives like a little gurgle , same when I’m going like high rpm in second or third and I let off the gas it gives a little pop and gurgle. Is that normal for the 450s? It’s done that since I bought it and I’m worried it’s the valves.
