I mean they just miss any opportunity to really grow.
MotoGP is huge in Spain and there is massive sponsorship from Spanish companies in it.
Mxgp lacked a Spanish champion like for ever and now they had Prado for 5 years. He is winning his 2nd mxgp title in the final GP of the season at home in Spain. And THIS is the GP MXGP comes up with?
Infront just fails in marketing and selling motocross
I think this is a big part of it. I front and MXGP are light years behind any other series of its stature when it comes to promotion and social media. Their social media is a joke, a complete joke. I’m convinced you hand it over to a fan to run and you would see a significant improvement almost immediately.
The TV package hasn’t really changed in 10 years, I know they added some extra, behind the scenes shows and stuff which are good, but it’s not enough. We still have the same pit reporter, almost the same TV graphic as 10 years ago, which isn’t really good enough.
Some of the tracks are awful too. Racing on different types of dirt is part of what makes MXGP great, and I would never want them to lose that, but some of the track prep is just terrible. How many GP’s do we see where it’s sunny, 25-30 degrees and the first 5 laps of each MX2 race are muddy? It’s just not good enough for this level. I’m sure that when they are faced with a track like they had last weekend, which is rocky, slick, just no fun at all, Red Bud and Millville look a lot more appealing
And, further to this utter F**kwits control over the GPs :
