Alright, what am I missing? 2024 GasGas MC350f

Yesterday I pulled the wheels off to put a set of new tires on, everything was fine coming off.

I went to put the wheels back on and the front axle clamps are now out of alignment, with the left fork leg axle clamp being much lower. But the rest of the fork on both sides is in perfect alignment...

what am I missing? This is my Austrian bike, and first bike with air forks. Is there something you're suppose to do differently here...?

Thanks for the help ahead of time everyone (I'm sure it's something dumb/obvious)

Here are pictured of what I'm talking about

1-2. The front axle clamps out of alignment

3-4. Right and left fork at the same height. Checked it with a caliper, too. They're the same.

5. Here you can see it's even across, too.

Looks like the air side needs attention. Check the hex on the bottom of the fork lug and see if it is loose.

Thanks, I'll take a look at that. Could it just be that? The bike and suspension only had around 11 hours on it. I wouldn't imagine it would be anything major.

Edit: it was nice and tight

Call up your dealer and see if they can process a warranty claim or tear into it yourself. Something has probably come unthreaded in the air side.

One more thing. I think the air side is too long in your pic but hopefully someone can confirm the damper side isn’t too short instead. I don’t have any air forks to look at to verify.

When I'm riding I set it to 156.

I don't touch it unless I'm at the track

This doesn't matter at all i think, the air side can retract or expand a bit and can sometimes settle in a different spot as intended. Once tightened down the whole thing works as a single unit so there is nothing to worry about anyway.

You can try to empty it and pump it back up again to see where it settles, cause the idea is indeed that they end up aligned. I believe the top edge of the upper tube to the axle center should be 950mm.

What you are saying is basically what another friend said. I'm hoping this is just it.

I didn't expect the Austrian bikes and air forks to be this much different.

I would get in contact with one of the bigger suspension shops and get their feedback. Call REP, Factory Connection, Ride JBI, or Racetech.

This is fine. Once the axel and wheel are installed they become the same height and move together as one. All your dampening is in one leg so they work together in that sense. Same concept.

Pull down on your dampening side and see if it will extend, my guess is somehow the chamber misbled itself and is sucking back up. The air sides will usually collapse, not extend. They should not be able to extend at all at full pressure.

I think there is something wrong with the internals of the air side fork.
It shouldn’t be below the red slider.

You should at least get it checked out.

This. Please do not ride this bike before you take it/the forks to someone. I had the hydrostop on a pair of 4CS forks become unscrewed causing an identical situation. Also take your fork off, stand it straight up, put your foot on the axel block and pull up on the outer tube, i bet money it will try to separate past the bushings. You should not be able to see the stanchion from the front of the bike where the little gap is on your brake side fork. Something internally in these forks have screwed up. They need disassembled for your own safety.

You guys are way exaggerating, what stops topping out on the air side is the balance chamber. Somehow the head seal has gotten past the cutout to balance the pressure and it's now stuck further down. Push it back into position and it will balance again.

Worst case the seal on the air chamber is leaking, in which case a lot of air will come out when you bleed it. So you can easily test for that. Even in that case the bike is still safe but the fork will collapse halfway immediately. The aer fork is a very safe design

This. The damping side can also create a negative pressure because of atmospheric changes.Bleedscrew is your friend.

I am pretty sure it was/is something on the dampening side, like this. I installed everything on Sunday and yesterday looked at the forks. Found the dampening side was now longerer.

We'll ride a private track this weekend that has jumps that are as big as you want them to be just in case. But I think it was just this.  Thanks for all the input everyone!

"Bleed screw is your friend" is exactly right.
