Ha! One time I struggled getting in to North Vegas due to very strong cross winds. I was thinking at the time that they should instead build airports with huge round runways, then alter the runway orientation to have winds running parallel with the runway itself. Yeah, I know it's not practical, but crosswinds during landing brought out the irrational in me.

Now, you guys obviously have a lot more experience than me, but I'll tell ya that every time I was flying, I was never as frightened during any event more so than a person who's a passenger. Not even close.

If I remember the RB211 was developed for the L1011. I know some 757 operators

(including our new 757's) use the 211. (RR uses EPR as the primary indication)

Our MD11's,10-10, and 10-30's are driven by the CF6 and the PW4100 family. Slightly fickle, these fans see plenty of MX. Nothing like the CFM56's, absolutely bulletproof.
