Hi Vitards. So accidentally deleted my half assed bike build thread so thought I'd just start over on this 2000 Honda CR250 I've been building for awhile now. So I bought it for cheap and whole reason I bought was cause it just had a hot rod bottom end kit and piston put in. Was gonna just spruce it up and flip it for a profit. Then I opened the can of worms 😆
Started the tear down and found all the usual things. Blown fork seals and shock, brakes are shot. Linkage cooked etc. But motor ran decent. So I started to throw some plastic at it, new pipe, bars and started collecting parts while I really made a game plan. * Getting all that gold spray paint of the wheels was not fun either. What an idiot this kid was 🤦♂️
Then I opened a can of worms. While on a stand I turned the rear wheel and noticed there was noticeable drag coming from the motor. Really sucked cause I knew these cases were coming apart and whole reason I bought it was cause motor was built but I guess anyone who uses this abundance of red rtv I probably don't trust their mechanical skills anyway so ripped motor out and found they had the transmission orientation wrong. Oh well live and learn
Typical neglect found. Dirt and grease everywhere, broken case I had to get repaired

From here I decided to get some new pro x main bearings/seals, new vertex piston kit and re use this brand new crank cause at least he didn't lie about that, he had receipts but took it with grain of salt but he did do crank/piston and 01 cylinder head. So I cleaned everything best I could and started to reassembled the motor.

Next I rebuilt the Forks and shock, linkage and just non stop refinishing hardware, hard parts etc. Lot of sandblasting, baking soda blasting and vapor blasting throughout to get all this old fork oil and crap off stuff. Then it was time to make it look like a bike again. Found a chipped reed and oh suprise more red rtv 🤦♂️ Rebuilt the carb and got new hoses. Rebuilt the rear wheel with new oem honda rim I had and dubya spokes. New tires, controls, cables. Lot of oem honda hardware was used. Finally after 8 long months i got to start it today and break it in 🙂 Little rich but nothing crazy just gonna drop pilot 1 and go from there. It still needs a bit of finishing up like seat cover, chain and sprockets put on it and controls neatened up but hopefully be riding it by next weekend. Look foward to breaking it in and making it better. Was gonna sell it but starting at is making me nostalgic and missing my 01(bottom pic) Maybe when i ride it that may go away cause my 01 was a handful but guess we'll see !

So she's all done and got the bugs worked out of it. Wow does this thing rip! This motor is a rcoketship. If anyone would like to buy it for it's for sale! $4500 OBO, can ship it anywhere in country for additional $ too. Till it sells I will ride it a little and enjoy it, if it doesn't sell I'll gladly keep it and keep making it better 🙂![]()

Small update, rode it few more times and kinda getting a feel for it now. Motor is explosive and kinda of a handful but fun. Kinda reminds me of a rm250 kinda blast of power. May try a small flywheel weight. Had stock wheels give out on me so bought a set of kke black wheels (black rim silver hub). New chain. Put more little things on, oem rad louvers, mid pipe mount and rubber coupler. I took the chineese shroud graphics off that fit crappy and have throttle jockey ones coming and ordered backgrounds. May do match seat cover later too Wanna try that rear master upgrade to one with a intergarated reservoir/master I see as well put a oversize on front. Overall things fun might just keep it awhile and make it litter better.

Nice! My first brand new bike was a 2000 CR250.
Keep a close eye on that crank I’ve heard some not so positive reviews about those hot rods, just food for thought. Bike looks killer… ride on
Another small update. Decided to replace the worn out old ims super stock pegs with a new set of ims pro series foot pegs. Coulda gone crazy with something else but these pegs were a great upgrade and got them from my dealer for about 85 bucks. Also threw on new oem peg pins, springs and new cotter pins. It's the little thing

As well as my throttle jockey oem style shroud graphics came in and all I gotta say is there stuff is absolute top notch as always. Stuff fit 10X better then the Chinese garbage I had on there before. Threw some backgrounds on there awhile back for a buyer that backed out last second. In mean time I'm just gonna get another set if side panels and a stadium front # plate with my numbers and run those. If I ever sell this thing I'll just throw these ones back on. Gonna give it this thing a fair shake down in spring against an 02 me and dad are building together too. If I like the 02 I'll go foward with selling this 00. But if I like it then screw it I'll have 2 cr250s then I guess 🤷 I've had both gen at same time before but my 01 was worn out and my 03 was fresh and dialed in. Guess we'll see. Oh and ps the nickel pipe is coming off and a PC works pipe will being going on, I can't stand nickel pipes lol
