On Racer X’s FOX Fifty!!
Although I am extremely flattered, there is just NO WAY that I should be in the top 5 (and for the record, they are YOUR votes so you can do what you want with them).
I think the reason that I am getting so many votes is because most of the fans just don’t know who all the Colorado guys are, yet they seem to know me from either my work in the industry as a team manager, or from my days of making a meager living racing in far off countries around the world.
Either way, it doesn’t make me faster than most of the people on that list, far from it in fact. In my humble opinion, I feel that I was lucky to even MAKE the list (top 15), and that’s right about where I would rank myself, but certainly not top 5. It’s just not fair to the guys who DO deserve your votes, as I am very proud of the fact that Colorado has always had a VERY deep talent pool, and for me to even be mentioned in the same breath as most of the riders on that list is a true honor.
If you want to vote for someone, let me give you my top 5 (and I do consider myself an expert on that at least
)
1) Andrew Short – nuf said
2) Arlo Englund – trust me people, Andrew only recently displaced Arlo as Colorado’s top dog
3/4) This one is a little bit closer, but take your pick on Eli Tomac or Josh Hansen – both studs
5) Stacey Cook – one time national #31, come on guys!!!
After that, Kip Sandell (national #44,) Mark Flesia (national #50), Boo Stichter (the guy almost beat Bob Hannah in his prime!!), Shawn Morgan or Andy Atkins (both local legends who have WAY more #1 plates than I do as well as limited success nationally).
There’s a few more that I would also rank ahead of me, but that gives you 10 rock solid guys to choose from over me.
For the record, I’m not just trying to be humble here, and I REALLY do appreciate all the votes, but it is literally embarrassing that I have more votes somehow than Stacey Cook and some of the others that I listed.
DC and crew, I’ve already told you this in person, but thanks for the most awesome bench racing idea of all time, and keep up the great work!!
Thanks,
Paul
