Eagle One Mag Wheel Cleaner replacement

So Eagle One Mag Wheel Cleaner has been the go to for getting that new look on dirt stained aluminum frames for quite a while, but they discontinued it. What is the new equivalent of that?

I have some of the aluminum brightener from Napa but I know that it is SUPER aggressive, so that can be a last resort if there isn't something more equivalent to the Eagle One.

Is this the same stuff or did they rerelease a different formula under a similar name?

Did the original say safe to use on aluminum? I feel like they would put that label on every etching product…

I don't know but that's a good point. I actually sent an email to eagle one to see what their equivalent is as well, so maybe I will hear back today.

Here's their response:

Thank you for contacting Eagle One. We are happy to know that you are interested in our products. Please note that you can use the Eagle One all wheel and Tire cleaner :

Don't know that this is equivalent at all.

I just went through this as well…. Bummer that they discontinued it, as it was a great products.

I’ve since switched to Autosol Metal Polish. I use it on aluminum all the time and it seems to be the best product I’ve used so far! In these pictures I used it to polished the machined spot where the triple clamp bolts sit, and I also did two coats on my works pipe. Is it a polish or a liquid? I was hoping for something I could spray the frame down with once I got it bare to really clean it like the mag cleaner while brushing and using scotch brite pads.

Harmon's wheel brite was great stuff also but it was banned years ago. It contained surfactants that shined plastic, aluminum, steel and just about everything else. I think California was the first to ban it and the Feds followed soon thereafter. It might still be available, just without the effective ingredients. Really made the bike shine like new.

It’s a paste, I’d put it in a similar category to toothpaste as a comparison haha. I cleaned up set of pretty rusty ceramic coated pipes with it as well. For that I just put a blob of it on an SOS pad and went to town scrubbing, and then buffing off clean with a microfibre cloth.

Here’s a before and after type of comparison, after only a little bit of polishing. They came out even better after a few more applications of it. DAB116BE-499E-4FBE-AD5E-5B15BDB751E7F4AA3D43-F06C-41E0-A188-DA438DB90CB6.png?VersionId=RL5aotsge

Oh yeah, I've seen that stuff. The youtuber DirtBikeRepair uses it on a bunch of stuff. May have to give it a try. For now I am going to bathe the parts in Simple Green HD Purple and I picked up some Black Magic Aluminum Cleaner in the spray bottle. We'll see how that does.

Does anyone know if the simple green HD is harmful to aluminum? I know the green will etch over time.

Pretty much all those cleaners like that will dull aluminum over time, even LA totally awesome. You can actually use Purple Power to remove anodizing off aluminum parts and it will pit the aluminum if you leave it in there long enough. I have a buddy that swears by it and his bikes are clean but they just have a dull kinda dingy look to them.

I use Shout laundry stain remover on everything on my bikes, its very effective and its totally safe, id try some shout and some fine steel wool on the frame.

I picked some Shout up at the grocery store to use this weekend. It's been 10 years since I've owned a bike and all the old tricks are coming back to me Smile

Guys correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Simple Green HD (Purple) actually is safe on the aluminum and doesn't etch like the regular green version.

FWIW, pretty sure I have that same bottle at home and it appears to me to be the same as the old stuff.

I have an love that stuff, but I'm not going for the polished look on the frame. Just the factory brushed look.

I think I'm just going to give it a good degrease bath and use the scotch brite pads on a dremel in the tight spots, followed by some shout, and then a little aluminum brightener at the very end once everything is clean.

I have had good luck with the Napa aluminum bright…Some aluminum will get very bright, but others will get a bit dark. For example frame aluminum seems to get very bright, while the carburetor got a bit dark.

This is my CR125 frame with just cleaning plus Napa bright spray..

That's good to hear!! I already have the aluminum brightener from Napa so I'm going to let it eat on the frame and get it good.

The motor however will be alot of elbow grease I already know.. I have a ton of scotch brite pads and the little bits that go on a dremel.

It's all going down this weekend. Tearing her down. I plan on doing a nice degrease wash while the bike is still together before I take it down to help clean up the motor/frame best I can before hand.

Did you test any of the aluminum bright on the swing arm?

I can't get the eagle one anymore either.

Has any one tried this?
