OK all the big tournaments are starting for the softball world series. Hope OU can win it again this year but Texas and a couple other teams are playing strong OU vs OSU start their 3 game big 12 series today and I am recording as many games from all the divisions. Some great student athletes playing and giving it their best. 
I used to watch that when I had cable. Way faster than MLB. Fun stuff to watch.
The first Bedlam game #2 OU vs #4 OSU was on Fox Sports 1 this evening, and it was a good game with OSU beating their former all-Star pitcher, Kelly Maxwell 6-3!
It was a shocking win and one I am sure the OSU head coach Kenny Gajewski, is probably relishing in after Maxwell entered the portal and left for their biggest rival (and ironically his Alma-mater, where he was a pitcher on the 1994 National championship baseball team) OU!
Her OSU pitching coach retired after last season, and for reasons never disclosed to public, Maxwell left over some type of “difficulty” with coach Gajewski, and landed at OU for her final season…
We are predicted to have a 65% chance of rain around Okc / Norman area on Saturday and even higher chance at close to 80% for rain on Sunday! Hopefully they can get the games played between weather issues, and after tonight’s OSU victory it ought to be a crazy good weekend for softball here in the land 0’ the redneck! Ha 😎 👍❗️
Saturday’s OU/OSU Bedlam game was 4 pitches old when it went into a 3 1/2 hour lightning/rain delay!
When the game resumed, it was toe to toe 2-2 tie until the 5th inning before OSU hit 3 HR’s and broke it open…Cowgirls then held on for 6-2 victory and go up 2-0 in the last series of the regular season and first time OSU has beaten OU at home in Norman, since 1993!
Its the first time OSU has played OU at home in Norman at their new field, and ironically they beat Kelly Maxwell, their All-star pitcher the last four years, that graduated in 2023, then hit the transfer portal and went to OSU’s bitter instate rival OU! She was 16-1 until she lost to her old team in front of the OU crowd 6-3.
OU needs to find their mojo and get rolling asap if they want to win their 4th straight national championship! 😎 👍❗️
Finally OU got a win so OSU didn't get the sweep, not the best time of the year for OU to not get the normal amount of hits and other than Maxwell their pitching line up is pretty weak and she cant pitch every game.
Sad to say I don't think OU will get the 4 peat and they are losing 6 starters for next season so its now or never.

All the OU folks are nervous, wondering if this little slump is a result of just “going flat” at an in-opportune time, OR cracks in the facade, revealing a glaring weakness that could get exploited in the post season and just ahead of the WCWS!
Everyone is hoping for a 4th national title and becoming the only team to ever do that!
NO one wants to see a 4th title fade away much the same way the thunderous bats faded away just in time for the Bedlam series! 🤪
And in full disclosure…I am likely one of the few here in the land 0’ the Redneck, that truly pull for ALL the Oklahoma schools! I grew up with a Dad that was a rabid OU fan (remember Okla had NO professional sports of any kind until the Okc thunder less than 20 years ago!) and I sentimentally pull for OU, BUT I actually attended OSU finishing up my education, after playing three years of collegiate baseball, before a badly broken throwing arm ended my baseball once & for all! AND one of my best buddies son played football all fours years for the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes, and my beloved Niece graduated from Tulsa University Law school!
SO I piss all my family & friends off by pulling for OU, OSU & TU and not taking it personally when one or the other wins loses etc! 😎 👍❗️
I attended my first OU girls game last month, and I left the game amazed to say the least. I was sitting next to the bullpen, and throughout the game they had girls in there staying warm. There is no way in hell I could hit off one those heaters those girls were slinging. Watched them on TV for years, but it does it no justice at all..... Those young ladies are top shelf athletes.

My Son played two years of Collegiate golf on scholarship and dated one of the pitchers off the softball team for a year! (She ended up having to move back home to Illinois due to financial difficulties and they drifted apart after trying to maintain a long distance deal for a while!)
With my being an old collegiate baseball player and my son playing baseball all through his youth, we would often take the ball gear out to the local ball field and have her pitch BP to us!
It was SO much fun hitting against a collegiate level pitcher! She was pretty savvy, had good velocity with some decent junk mixed in and could catch me off balance pretty good sometimes!
My dear ol’ Dad would come along and shag down fly balls in the outfield! We sure had some damn fun Saturday afternoon’s hanging out at the ball field a few hours then head down to the local burger shack for lunch and laugh! Those were the best of times…
Those gals are MEGA talented athletes and it is a great time watching their games every chance we get! My wife & I get to see several games a year at OU, thanks to a close family friend with season tickets, that often offer then to us when they can’t attend! We also plan to make at least two sessions at the WCWS again this year too! 😎 👍❗️

There is NO doubt the Barry Switzer era and the glory days of those OU teams were the Golden years of Oklahoma football and what could probably be described as “The good ol’ days” of the college game! That time was full of Boss Hogg types, never meanin’ no harm! They all just wanted to WIN! Ha
Growing up in Oklahoma all through the 70’s OU Football WAS the states NFL team! Heck they probably could’ve competed with NFL teams back then…but then again there were several states with college teams that could compete with NFL teams of the era! Texas, Nebraska & OU in the old Big 8 Conference and I bet there were others around the great ol’ U. S. of A. that were the same way too! 😎 👍❗️

WOW, Stanford pitcher NiJaree Canady is on fire, I hope OU does not end up facing her again
Great softball world series so far, I was shocked to see OSU lose both and get eliminated 
I just hope OU keeps the big bats alive because you got to score some runs to win it all. 
WOW cant believe OU pulled it out and beat the Gators to advance to the finals against Texas so the number 1 and 2 teams will play for keeps. Texas is playing better than Oklahoma right now but its now or never for OU to pull out of their hitting slumps.
We have watched every game so far on TV and we were at the ball park the last two days!
Today’s game was unbelievably stressful for BOTH sides and the walk off HR was unreal!
although there has been a few rain delays, the temps have been really good with upper 70’s this afternoon and great weather predicted for the next few days! #1 Texas & #2 OU finale oughta be really good!
It’s so much fun to be at the games and these gals put on one HELL of a show! 😎 👍❗️

Game one, now that's the OU team we are used to seeing, hope they put together another one like that tomorrow.
Their catcher is such a beast.
After assistant coaching my daughter's softball team last year in 8u (coach pitch, i was pitcher) and 10u this year, now i know why their coach makes a mil a year. Im not cut out for this crap. Coaching kids is the easy part. Lol
OU team is a juggernaut. Their aggressive mindset at the plate is unbelievable. Texas deserves a ton of credit for fielding a team with mostly in state players.
I was scared that Texas was going to sweep OU, after watching Mac Morgan give up zero hits in the games leading up to the finals against Oklahoma I thought no way will OU get any big hits off her.

It was an impressive & dominant WCWS for the OU girls, & the senior class went into the history books with one last huge win! It was a dream series against one of their oldest rivals and marks the first ever 4-peat as national champions! I only live 10-15 minutes away from the OU campus and I am very fortunate to have a family friend with this “killer view” for season ticket seats and get to see them play in person fairly regularly when the tickets are offered to us!
It will be interesting to see how next season shapes up with the loss of this senior class! Some schools, rebuild, some just reload the next group up! P. Gasso is also really great at recruiting too so who knows whats up next! Either way, it’ll be fun to watch!
And is it just me or is TV suddenly kinda boring again with the softball over & no moto on to watch? Even as an old baseball player, when I tried to switch over & watch OU & OSU baseball in their super regionals, I found it too slow paced & boring to watch for more than an inning or two before I had to change the channel or fall asleep!

I definitely have a softball hangover, wishing there were more games but I recorded all the televised games so I have lots of them to watch until next season

They were showing the little league softball championship series on ESPN today and it looks like fast pitch softball will continue its huge growth and gives these young girls a goal to go to college and play. I don't think I could have even got a hit against the LL pitchers, all those girls get after it. 👍👏
Been poking around all the softball social media and it looks like Patty Gasso didn't even show interest in NiJaree because she wants only players who are all about the team and I guess NiJaree is all about NiJaree so she wouldnt have been a good fit. I guess head coach Jessica Allister was professional about it and didn't point out the internal issues with her but did some eye rolling and such when asked about it. I don't blame her for following the money as there isn't any after they get out of college as the pro softball teams like the OKC spark and others cant come near those amounts of money.
Totally agree with you. I hate it, but can't blame her either...... Grab the cash when it's there, because it damn sure won't be there later for sure. On a brighter note, really looking forward to seeing how the boys do this fall diving into the SEC.....
OU has been making some really good moves and I think they can be a contender this year in the SEC. I was thinking it would be several years before they could make some noise but Venables is getting things done and I hope they get off to a strong start. 😎
Venables is one smart man. He can build on both sides of the ball, unlike what we had before. The quaterback groomer...... It's no secret Riley took the USC cash and ran like hell to avoid the SEC. He couldn't build a defense with us, and then proved it to be true at USC....... they of course are not too happy it. Last season for them spoke volumes......
