I think it's a thread because there are those that sound a trumpet and publicize such things at every opportunity, just as they did by writing this article, which apparently means it's not a nothing-burger to them - they want it talked about.

Many decades ago....a buddy and I went into a lesbian bar up in L.A. (youthful stupidity). The doorman asked if we knew what the place was about and if we still wanted to go in (they couldn't flat out turn people away). Playing stupid, we said we just wanted to grab a beer. In we went and ordered a couple beers, the "lady" behind the bar gave us a look that could kill and she was big enough to crack both our skulls together if she wanted to. The hostility was palpable in there.
In hindsight....I wish we hadn't done that.
