Anyone racing in classes where 250cc 2-smokers are up against the 250cc 4-strokes? Unless I read the displacement class definition wrong, it's possible to do that (yeah, this board discussed this quite a bit in the past). I'm just curious how it's working out, if that's what's really happening.

lap times at the races to see what is what. sometimes better...sometimes not is my theory.
then they won't be running ama sanctioned events because when i comes to class structures it's a rule book not a "guideline"/
the only reason those states are laughing at us is because they enjoy cheaper insurance per race coverage then we do. but that is soon to change hopefully.
From the rule book .

it pays points in 17, but it's open skill. Wish it would be divided, but you can only have so many classes. Wardy, I didn't look, is 4 stroke still a district class? if so, why? It's useless.

IF this is in any rule book that is at a district level, it's simple. on the very first race protest the situation, when they deny your protest using what ever rule book they have, tell them ok, then have them submit that in writing to AMA. I would bet it will take NANO seconds for Holiday to blow that out of the water. NO district rule book can "supersede" AMA. They can make a rule "harder or more desciptive" [u:11r3s224][b:11r3s224]but districts or tracks can NOT directly conflict and ignore an AMA rule.[/b:11r3s224][/u:11r3s224]
[quote:11r3s224]Wardy, I didn't look, is 4 stroke still a district class? if so, why? It's useless.[/quote:11r3s224] District 17 never had an "4-stroke" class, we used to have "Open" class which was dam near identical to what we have today except they are split into ABC.
On the 125 class it's simple, we don't feel there will be alot of riders for this class on an A level. ALL promotors/clubs will pay trophy's in this class, and it's geared to entice the b-c crowd who gave up racing since they couldn't afford a new bike and only ride play days. ALong with that it offers a second class for that schoolboy rider on the 125 which in this district we are only running 125's and no f's.

They have send us lists at the district lever for C-B advancement. We got our list a week ago, the B-A list is either being organized or being decided on wether or NOT to do this advancement. The reasoning (my assumption) is that we raised the "bump" level to 16 no long 15 years old. AND the whole point system has been revamped to be more fair for the "local" rider. Since that is an 08 rule change is couldn't be used for 07, hence they may wait? I have an e mail into them for a letter on that decisison so we out here know what to do. I personally feel that the districts should not move riders unless the AMA has the same idea, since today the final decision lays with AMA not Districts. We made need to address this next fall for a small tweak.
The RMXA is using this rule. I bought an 08 RM250 2T to run in the 250 class this year. It list it in the RMXA sign up packet as 125cc-250cc bikes.

He's faster on the 2 smoke than he is on the 4 stroke. He likes the power to weight ratio compared to the 450.

hmm, i could have sworn it was district. South Fork used it, and that's where I mostly raced until last year, so maybe it just seemed that way.
Huh?
nothing wrong with that but it was a mis conception that it was a point paying class.
