I just looked through your album and read your "the day that changed my life forever" entry. It's so cool that you found a way to get back to racing. You had a choice to make as all people do who get hurt to the extent that you did. I had a friend who lost the use of his legs because of his Dad and a shotgun accident and he did not choose your path. He started a slow descent into hell that he never recovered from. Much respect to you for making the choice you did. I cannot imagine how hard it must have been or the changes you had to make in your life. Are you still playing with the Pilots or have you found new toys? And thanks for all the great content. We all owe you for your contributions to the board.

Scottie is one of the good guys for sure, a true motofan and has been contributing so much stuff during the years, not only great videos.

And from what I know (which isn't much), you were a badass on 2-wheels also.

And Scottie, it would be cool to meet you someday and benchrace over a couple of cold one's. Who know's, maybe I will get my @$$ over for at National on of these days or even better, the MXdN at Lakewood...

Thanks man and cool of Kinetic to mention this!

This brought a tear to my eye! Wow.

I'd have to say the few years I have spent reading this forum and listening to negitivity happen on a daily basis made me negligent to join, the MX testosterone runs rife in here. Scottie you are the man who made join, I just had to say thanks for posting 'Inside the outdoors' about a month ago. I'm no-one but you got this moto junkie to join this board.

Thanks Kinetic too!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. My pilot has been parked for way to long. I have been going through some pretty bad health problems for about 5 years now, long story short, my back is ruined, i just had the 25th anniversary of my accident, and after so long the metal rods in my back have worn out the 2 vertebrae below them. I need to have a really gnarly surgery, but am scared to death to go through it. I know i HAVE to have it done someday, cant live in this kind of pain forever, its just a matter of preparing myself for it, and to be totally honest, i am not prepared. It has been a pretty rough few years, but i continue to just take one day at a time.

I have met a LOT of damn good people over the last 10+ years on these boards, way to many to list. Some of you may have noticed that GuyB brought me on to help start adding content to the main page here at Vital, so i have to give him a big thanks, I am just stoked that it keeps me connected to the sport i love so much. You now what they say, you can take the man out of moto, but you cant take the moto out of the man.

Its pretty crazy over the years how things have changed, i was hurt in '85, same year as Magoo, and back in the day spent a lot of time up at his house when we were going through some pretty heavy times, i could tell some stories of those days that would blow your mind. If you havent been through it first hand, you can not begin to imagine the highs and the lows. Every time i read a new post about another rider getting injured, it really breaks my heart.

Anyway, thanks again everyone for the kind words.

I know there's been a few times you've wanted to reach thru the monitor and slap the fuck out of me, so I must apologize for that.
Glad to call you a friend, Scottie. Like many have said, I'm an admirerer (sp?) of yours. Not just for your expertise with all things tech, but for what you've lived through and for your experiences and stories you share.

Thank God someone is here to keep that nut job Guyb inline, I'm pretty sure OC don't like me, but I think he's a cool ole dude and I have a whole lot of respect for him.

Wow Scottie, that is exactly how I remember it. And I remember it like it was just yesterday. I was there with Scott on this tragic day and it not only changed his life but the life of many of his closest friends and family as well. What Scottie failed to mention was the fact that he had successfully nailed that same Competition Hill freefall drop in many many times that same day. The skills he possessed on a motorbike at the age of 14 were that of legend. His passion, insight and knowledge for all things motocross has been and will always be unmatched. I'm thankful for this opportunity with Guyb and Vital, you deserve this and more. I'm proud to call you my friend Scott. Keep on truckin man. C.Hill
