I am in the process of rebuilding an 04 cr250 from the ground up. I had some issues with the stock forks and found a decent deal on a set of clamps, forks, and a front brake off a 19 CRF450R. It looks like the forks are completely stock as far as setup.
1. How would you set these up on the 250 smoker? So far I have .46kg/mm springs for them (RT recommended rate for 250f), but i also have a gold valve kit for a '22 CRF450R midvalve. I have also been looking at the pressure springs as I believe the stock 450 is 2.2kg/mm.
2. The CR250 shock has been rebuilt, I have it ready to go back together with a modified stock stack. Added a couple of face shims to the rebound side as I have collected the rebound is very light. Would you make any additional recommendations before assembly? Ordering a 5.0 shock spring as RT's 5.2 are always too stiff for me and I end up with a high static sag number.
I have a decent amount of shims, especially 12m ID.

I would mount them up & ride it… then determine what they need, if anything at all…
That's the plan as of right now unless I come across some extensive experience with this setup and can offer some stack suggestions.
I put an 08 Crf450 front end on my 96CR250, I had Factory Connection revalve & spring the rear shock to better balance out chassis …. I played with oil levels in the forks, otherwise stock and they work pretty good. Make sure you verify the fork offset is the same as stock, unless you wanted to change the geometry…sometimes they made changes to offset on the lower lugs
