So my we lad will be 13 this year and is a growing boy for sure.  I found him a good running 2001 kx125 that has turned out to be a 144 that really needs a simple going through for him to ride.  Today I found a 2000 kx250 for me that runs great but needs love on every chassis bearing and a facelift.  Plan is to do both of these this winter with mildish rebuilds to get them back in shape.  Looking forward to these experiences for him.  What do you guys think we should model these after?  The black plastics have got to go!59969BB6-B75A-4FDE-8C2E-2FCB7E14FC33.jpeg?VersionId=IukhN2uuHPagc

Built a bunch 125s with my dad when i was his age, wouldn't trade those times for anything. As for what to model them after do what u feel like is cool. I love the PC bikes but you may have a different taste. The oem look is kinda plain but looks good too. The chevy trucks kits never struck me as super cool but if u like it that could be neat. The whole gold on green kinda thing is funky but has grown on me.  Honestly kiddo could want to put a restyle kit on it with monster logos and its still cool. Why ? Cause you guys are getting to enjoy riding 2 strokes together and that's awesome. Enjoy the builds guys!

I concur with the retro 90’s.   I always had a soft spot for the 91 and 93 KX.

IMG 0312 0.jpeg?VersionId=fCUH0 HaPkUINDVt1SLX4qB5pTGujThey are both to this point, the 250 had terribly mismatched hardware….suspension is the first big ticket item to go through.  Both run great so motor work will be minimal.  Ordering bearings, bolt kits and plastics soon.  Fun watching your kid spin wrenches
