Biden Cracks Joke About Boeing-Made Air Force One: 'I Don't Sit By The Door'.

President Joe Biden laughed about Boeing (NYSE:BA) aircraft on Thursday at a campaign reception in New York.

What Happened: “I don’t sit by the door,” Biden laughed in a discussion with former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.

He was responding to a question from moderator Stephen Colbert on whether the doors of Air Force One stay on during flights. The aircraft operated as Air Force One and modified for presidential transport is manufactured by Boeing.

"All three of you have been on Air Force One. You still have the keys, Mr. Biden. That's made by Boeing, right? Do those doors stay on? Before you get on, do you send [over] Pete Buttigieg with a socket wrench set to tighten them?" Colbert posed to the president, referring to the incident from January when a door plug panel on a Boeing aircraft flew off.

Good job Joe...🤢

I'm confused, are we angry that Boeing has been putting shitty airplanes up in the air or are we angry that someone made an incredibly obvious joke about it?

I’m confused, was this a brand new airplane, just out of the factory, or had it been though a few inspections and taken apart by the company that operated it?

I wasn't there so I can't say for sure but I worked aircraft production for many years and have seen this many times before.

The fuselage "tube" is made in Wichita at Spirit.  I can almost guarantee that door plug was installed and inspected at that time.  The tube was flown to Boeing for assembly completion.

I'd almost guarantee the Boeing workers remove the plugs on every fuselage for access to install the hundreds of thousands of parts that go into an aircraft.  Not a problem as long as the work is documented/inspected to ensure it's completed and correct.

Bottom line...the ball got dropped and it bit 'em.

I think I have a cousin that works at Spirit, so that may explain things!

Seriously, I was just wondering if it had been disassembled/ reassembled for an inspection by the airline.

I doubt that the Airline had any reason to remove that door plug or even think about it.  But honestly anything is possible.Dizzy

I moved to Wichita because I had offers from Boeing, Lear, Beech and Cessna.  I came to town for the interviews and went the tavern very near the factories.  Full of guys that worked at the plants.  This is what they told me:. ..

Boeing pays the most but has mandatory overtime and drives you like a dog.  Also has layoffs about every 2 years.

Lear and Beech pay ok but it's always war between management and the union.  Strikes and nepotism abound.

Cessna (which I chose) paid the least but rarely had strikes.  Better relations between mgt and workers.  Lots of mobility within the company.

What they told me was pretty much truth.

Democrats pretend to hate big businesses, but in reality they stick it to the smallest businesses, and w2 workers. The largest businesses are padding their pockets. I'd let anyone mf me on the news if they are going to pay me lump sums behind the scenes.

Example -All that COVID money wasn't available to my trucking company because we had less than 5 w2 employees (2 out of 3 by their own choices). We stayed working and didn't need help, but it's still screwed up that only larger small businesses could reap the benefits, and a lot  the smallest mom and pop businesses died.

Now please ignore facts and give me a record number of ignant dumdum down votes.

The PPP loans were a Trump program, and I give them credit for trying, but the mom and pops should've been included.

2021 and beyond has been unbelievable spending/inflation at the benefit of the stock and real estate markets, and COVID was a sorry excuse to use after the "miracle vaccine" came through early that year.
