Since i have been back this spring in the great white north it has been tough to find a place to ride that's not frozen or muddy but luckily we have a D-23 track in Grantsburg Wi. that is pure sugar sand and ready to go!

I have ridden it twice since last week and man what a blast! I forget how much fun and pain it it to ride in waist deep whoops and beautiful deep sandy berms.. mmm, better than sex? Wink Most guys i race with HATE sand because its so so difficult in so many ways but once you wrap your head around it and get into race shape, its hard to beat.

The season is here and for now its all sand and i love it!! Look out +40B riders, I'm on the track! haha!

Did you hit your head on one of those waist deep holes? That sand is brutal!

I'm going for a flatter, kinder first ride sometime over the weekend.. I need to be able to walk the next day.

Have fun.. and stop that bragging about being in those warm climates during the winter months.. Some of us are stuck in the tundra.

It got down to 33 degrees once this year where I live.....I was hating it. I had to wear long pants that day.
Riding sand is like water skiing, the faster you go the easier it is to get on top of it and turn. Think of sand as thick water.

33 degrees in the winter I could get use too.

It's those 40 below zero days, with a 30 mph wind that sucks.

Going fast in sand or at Loretta's is dang near impossible for me.

I love sand. guess I have to. most sand newbies fight the bike in sand instead of going with the flow.

Nope not yet anyway.. I bought new last years YZ450 and i am just getting it dialed for sand, you know the routine! Its not as fast or really as good as my CRF450 in sand but i last longer and it gets on top real nice. Yep its brutal all rightSad Where are you going? The clay or up to Staples?

Oh and it was not that much to brag about down there this year, it was the hottest place on EARTH for a day and close to it for a month or so!

This is correct, when in doubt in sand, pin it and things usually will be fine.

true sand, as in sand dunes, is SO much fun. Those who bag on atv's, get on a sport quad and ride the dunes. You will change your opinion. Not talking the utility with 6 pack rack and no helmet types.

Agreed! I have both the yz450f and the yfz450 and I go to Glamis or Gordons Well at least 8 times a season. I love riding both 450s in the Dunes.

Dunes are a total blast and part of that is the family/party/camping deal going on!~ But to ride soft deep sand in a closed course is something not many ever get to experience, its so hard to do that it also is the most satisfyingSmile

It is 2/3 sand where I ride most and I love it. Sand is the best. It really is easy to ride in once you realize you just have to keep it pinned and let it do what it wants.
