Alright guys I’m having a pretty big issue with rolling on the throttle when I’m landing a jump sometimes. Pretty new rider on the track. Getting around now to learning how to jump. Getting tired of rolling everything. It seems no matter how hard I squeeze the bike with my legs I always come down with my weight on my hands/wrists and twist the throttle when the bike makes contact back with the ground and borderline whiskey throttle it. I think I have pretty good body position, knees over pegs, upper body forward with my head over the bars. I try and maintain this posture every time. Any tips or advice on how to stop doing this?

You're probably not getting your weight far enough forward. Yes, I see that you have described the perfect body position. Get your weight forward. You shouldn't even feel heavy in your hands/wrists... Your upper body should be forward with your core holding you up.

Practice. And if you’re on a 4 stroke check your throttle cam to make sure you don’t have an aggressive one cam.

That makes sense. I feel like I’m pretty forward but I think I’m using the wrong parts of my body to soak up the landing maybe. I definitely tighten the arms and legs up prior to impacting instead of tightening the core to hold my upper body up. Like I said I’m still trying to learn things. I think I just get too stiff on the landings and need to relax the arms.

Never thought about this.... I think all of my body is being supported by my legs when I land, nothing on the bars.

Land with the throttle on > smoother landing. Honestly it sounds like your body position is incorrect. Have someone video you so you can watch and critique yourself

Also finger on the clutch, pull it in slightly just as you land so if you whisky it, you won't loop out.

Has somebody filmed your riding? I know I’ve been riding for over 40 years and as amazing as I feel with my body positioning and my form, I look like a total squid when I watch how I ride. 🤣

I know we feel like we are very far forward when we ride. Head in front of bars, on balls of feet and tight core. Reality is we are not close to the correct positioning even though we FEEL like we are. Get someone to do even a phone video and I'm sure you will surprise yourself. Like most of us would too.
