I'm in the process of restoring a 1974 CR125 and after disassembling the wheels to clean them up, paint the hubs, and respoke them I noticed both rims have cracks. So, for those that have restored early Elsinore's and replaced rims what did you use? I'm building a bike to ride vintage racing so not stuck on original or NOS, a good economical aftermarket would work. I don't want to start buying used rims off Ebay as with my luck they will end up being cracked. So, looking for options.

I've emailed Dubya about Excel rims, was wondering if I would have to use bigger nipples or if stock would work. Waiting for a reply.
For a rider, I would recommend heavy duty and stainless spokes and spoke nipples. Make sure you use the lubricant when installing. Good luck!

Dubya and Precision have both done Honda wheels for my vintage stuff. Both primo and stand-up folks.
Full Circle Racing makes rims for vintage bikes at a good price. I have them on my ‘79 CR250 and will put some on my ‘78 RM250 as well
