I found a bunch of old slides in my dads garage recently, I think these are from the '78 USGP.

Nice. Good quality pics for nearly 30 years old.

Lackey was on the Honda RC450 for '78 so I am guessing that was '77?

You are right, Heikki ran the #1 plate in both 78 and 79, and Brad was on a Honda in '78

Of course - could not have been '77 as Roger was #1 and Heikki was #2

Brad rode Kawasaki's in 79,80 Suzuki in 81,82.That pick is from 1979 that bike use to break the frames in half and the engine was underpowered it was only around 420cc's when everybody else ran full 500's. Brad still won a lot of races that year.

Probably not what you had in mind but it made me laugh. There was the foundation of an old cabin located about half way between highway 5 and El Camino Real in south Carlsbad where the Four Season Aviara is now located. My parents, uncle and cousins, and other family friends would meet at the cabin and spend Sundays riding and hanging out. This slide is dated May of '74. The last time I rode out there was in '87 and I went home with a warning from the cops.

I wish somebody could get a track open in San Diego county again.

[quote="porterhouse":4c441]Although difficult to tell from my crappy scan, this is of a poster taken from the center of a German mag. Jack Johnson and Larry Roeseler pre-running for the 79 1000.

I was there in 78"
Very hot, 105 deg, Mike Bell was kicking ass until the heat got to him.

Looks like maybe Wolsink and Pomery on the cover?

Tripp/Cox productions, is the Cox Nerd's pop ?
