Weird Foot-Pegs At INDY SX

Chris, in the post above, has definitely been looking faster through the whoop and has been riding with more confidence. I'm about to give some a try. I've heard from locals that they are great and haven't heard anything bad yet. I think there are some more in stock now.

I think they would also be good when I'm riding backwards on my bike.

Damn, I think if I had those pegs when I got hurt i would probably still be riding today.

he pegs tilt inward to help keep your knees against the bike in the event that you put enough pressure on the extension. There are a lot of positives to running these pegs and, to my knowledge, no negatives. Pegs ARE a rider preference however. I was sceptical at first but I thought "dont knock it till you try it". I love them!!!

I wouldn't be surprised if that club is gonna have to stfu for the rest of the season!!!

Hi folks. Update on the anklesavers.com site. It has been overhaules and I am now taking orders for all listed bikes. Right now there is still about a three week wait, but on some models it may be less than that, or maybe a shade more. There is not a pic of the new pegs on the site yet, but for those who wish to order now, if not satisfied with the new version sporting the kickstart pass-through feature for the four strokes, I will simply refund your money. I talked to Lance Vincent this weekend and he said he loves them and they help out alot on rough tracks. He said he was using demo ones that wouldn't be the actual ones for sale.(the kick started hit the back of the ankle saver to not get a full kit) He showed me how the finished ones would be and it would allow for a full kick.

btw, Lance was flying on both 250f and 450. He will be hard to beat this year!

i dont see what you guys are in those pics? the ankle savers are angled down. i dont see them stopping you from putting your ankle down that low.

That is perfect guys. DV's feet in this position would be resting flat on the ankle-savers(tm) proving more support and control. As well, when casing a jump, THAT IS AS FAR AS YOUR ANKLE WILL GO!!! The whole idea is to prevent your ankle from folding up under that peg, and they do that quite well. No boot will prevent you from hyper-flexing your ankles if you case a jump and are too far out on your toes; particularly if you area big fella! Ask around and see how many of your buds have trashed their ankles in this sport. It is great that alot of the faster riders using them like them in the whoops, but they are designed to protect your ankles and they do that quite well. If you are not back on the pegs like DV in the pic, then you don't ever even know they are there. If you are, you will like how they feel. With regard to safety, I would rather that flat outer edge of that peg land on me than the pointed end of the stock peg!

At any rate, this is an inherently dangerous sport, period. It is impossible to totally eliminate all of the risk, but we can certainly minimize it where possible. That is what these pegs are all about.

The kick start does hit the peg stopping the stroke about an inch short. Most don't have any problems with starting their bikes, However, I realize taht if a hot four stroke doesn't start after being stalled, it will be blamed on my pegs A kick-starter pass-through version will be available soon. All anyone has to do who has the original version is send it to me and I will 2 day the optional pass-through version to you. Available in about three weeks

I watched Lance Vincent fall in the 250A class in a LLQ this weekend right after the start. He kicked his bike three times with the ankle-savers(tm) and was off the the races. Passed the entire field and won. I also looked closely at his kick starter and there is barley a mark on it. I believe most folks kick a four stroke too hard, but that's another story and a pass-through peg will be available nontheless

Bobby, you only need one now. Buy a set so you won't need two later!

In this extreme case you might still damage your ankles, but the ankle-savers(tm) will at least prevent you from touching your toes to your tibia. In most cases, it is a case of you not even knowing how bad it could have been!

My dad did the same thing in the middle of the race when he got a little too brave on a jump, cased it, and snapped his achilles. Even worse was that because of being busy with work, he didn't get surgery until a week or two later, and by that time the gap between the ends of the tendon has reached a few inches. Solution: took tendons from his toes to piece it back together!

This product looks like it would have prevented that. By the way, my dad was racing 50+ at the time. Perhaps for the older guys who aren't nearly as flexable, this may especially be a good idea. Best of luck with your footpegs Tom.

They are all approximatley 19 degrees down, but thinking about making some with less of an angle and a light weight skidplate for the enduro guys.

Going to have the new version at JAX SX! Colors too Built the protoype for the pass-through version, but it needs just a wee bit more work. Almost there though. Regardless, those that have the regelular version just don't seem to care. It literally stops the stroke about 1 inch short. Still going to have a pass-through though. All make and models ready very soon! Stop by the Ankle-Savers(tm) rig and say hi!!!
