Hello MX friends!
I have the SuperMotocross Video Pass and get such poor picture quality here in Germany; even the TV pictures of the 80s were better.
I keep emailing the Video Pass support team and always get the same standard answers: Internet speed, clear cache, uninstall and reload app, switch off router etc.
Furthermore, I just can't get any further, and the poor image quality entirely ruins my enjoyment of watching these spectacular races. As soon as the camera moves, the picture is completely blurred, has block artefacts, you can't see any details and the ground looks like a sea of sand.
My internet speed is stable at 250 Mbit/s, the streaming media players are connected directly to the router via patch cables. The devices are the Apple TV 4K Box (3rd generation) and the Nvidia Shield TV 2019, both media players have the SuperMotcross Video Pass app installed. The picture quality is subterranean on both devices!
I would be thrilled if other Video Pass subscribers (outside the USA) would write here in the forum about their experiences, whether good or bad.
I simply cannot and will not accept this poor picture quality, after all, you are so fair and honest, you pay this premium price of approx. 190 US dollars and then feel ripped off.
With a friendly ride on

Does the stream work better using a computer or smartphone?
Here in Canada it looks great on the video pass. sorry to hear it isn't working for you.
Hello Premix4Live,
the picture quality via the media players is simply dreadful.
Even via the PC in the web browser, the moving picture is subterranean.
For five years now, I've wanted to jump against the wall because of this terrible picture quality. I was able to watch the races via the Peacock Android app for a short time, and the image quality was just awful.
Hello 212 Garage,
You can't imagine what terrible picture quality I have to put up with. I've already created a group on Facebook because of this poor picture quality. I recorded a video there of the TV picture with my camera. You can watch it of course, here is my link:

Hit or miss here, race day live is unwatchable most days due to the buffering and picture quality
Hello psmb,
the live broadcast is slightly better for me in terms of picture quality than the on-demand content.
Here in Europe, I have to rely on the on-demand content due to the time difference, unless Race Day Live is still feasible due to the time difference.
It looks pretty shitty, 720P, on peacock sometimes on a gig speed connection. Dont feel too bad. Its not like us US guys are watching the broadcast in 4k.
@psmb So you're not exactly thrilled with what the SMX Video Pass outside the USA is giving us for 190 USD.
A cheek from this Feld Entertainment Mafia!
Regards
@Marty1028
I was actually very impressed with the picture quality on Peacock. I don't understand the world anymore, why don't you have good picture quality? We'll live it's a bit better where I live in Germany, but on demand it's like 40 years ago. I've been doing this shit for 7 years, but I'm just so enthusiastic and a big fan of this spectacular sport.

Im pretty sure its due to their live feed compression. They might be broadcasting at 4k, but whatever they are compressing it at makes it look like shit.
Watching live its very sub par I find, in particular if watching directly via the TV, low quality and buffering. Replays are a bit better and stable, but on a whole its always hit and miss for me, pretty underwhelming for the amount we pay that's for sure.
Hi there, I´m watching from Mexico.
One tip that works for me is that I wait for about an hour after the races begin (I stay out of social media) and as I press play I go really fast to the beggining and I start watching so I can skip the ads and death time so eventually I watch the 450 main event live and so far it has been pretty good that way.
Hope it helps!
@Marty1028 I am also relatively sure that it is due to the extremely high video compression. The provider wants to save data volume and increase its profit at the expense of our passion. Such behaviour for the provider is absolutely unfair and actually constitutes fraud against the customer. The SMXVP support team always tells me that everything is fine, what a bottomless statement! Am I tilting at so-called windmills here? It looks like it, because I write around 50 emails to VP support every year.
Thank you for your helpful replies.

@thorns
Hi, thanks for your information from New Zealand and greetings to New Zealand from Munich. When I watch the RDL live on TV, the picture quality is slightly better than the replays afterwards. In general, the direct livestream is almost acceptable for me in terms of quality. The SMXVP has to pass on the live stream directly and has not yet been able to carry out its customer-hostile video compression. I even created a group page on Facebook because of the poor SMXVP picture quality. I'm not giving up, this sport is too important to me.

Hello Pako, thank you very much for your information from Mexico and greetings to Mexico from Munich. You don't have the big time difference in Mexico like we do in Europe, so you can follow the events live relatively well. Yes, the direct livestream is a bit better, even here in Germany. The app's timeline is also variable during the live stream, allowing you to rewind and/or fast-forward. Even the SMXVP has not yet been able to do its customer-hostile video compression for the replays. But the large time difference puts a spanner in the works. With the RDL, it's still reasonably feasible from my time of day. The important thing is that we are not alone with this rip-off due to the inferior video image quality. We simply cannot put up with this. I even thought the picture quality in 2023 was better than it is now, as it was also the first year of the newly launched SMXVP, including the Pro Motocross Outdoor series. This year, the picture quality is as bad as all the years before!

Here is the latest answer from SMXVP support this morning:
Thank you for contacting SuperMotocross Video Pass Support.
The service uses adaptive streaming technology in app and is optimized for to the best available based on your device capabilities, network congestion, and speed at the time of the feed. The video player uses adaptive bandwidth technology to periodically check your Internet connection and deliver you the optimal video quality experience for that connection. If the available bandwidth changes as you watch a game, the picture quality will be affected.
We appreciate you taking the time to email support with your feedback.
We've forwarded your note along to the Product Team; they appreciate all suggestions emanating directly from user feedback such as this.
If you have any other questions please let us know.
Kind regards

Hello MX friends,
once again, the replay of the race in Daytona had such poor picture quality. My joy is destroyed, and I could punch the wall in frustration. The whole picture looks like it's covered in fog, and I can only recognise the jumps by the bumps on the side. For me, this is the biggest customer scam I have ever experienced in years.
With best regards
Joelle
