I purchased a 2022 KTM 350SX-F in November of last year. Rode it a few times in the yard since all the tracks and such are closed here for winter. I ran fine, but it has 90 hours on it and decided to do a top end rebuild (piston/ring and valve stem seals) for precautionary measures. The crank measured fine, so I'll keep it in for this summer. (I'm a vet rider, so I don't put a ton of stress or hours on my bikes.)  I put the bike all back together and she fired right up. It had a light dark smoke from the exhaust for a second from the oil burning off that I had coated the cylinder with to prevent a dry start. The next day I come into the garage and start the bike again. This time there was white smoke! Not a lot but this shouldn't be a thing. I shut the bike off and I noticed a small droplet of coolant on the left side of the bike's cylinder gasket. The closer I looked, I noticed there was coolant residue on about 2 inches of the gasket. Coolant was weeping very very slowly to the outside. I just put the bike all back together and was going to take advantage of next weekend's unusually warm weather here in NW Illinois. I took the bike back apart and there was definitely coolant weeping into the cylinder. How can a brand new gasket be bad? I used proper torque and the metal gasket can only go on one way. I didn't go OEM though, I used Wiseco gasket set. I went ahead and ordered all OEM gaskets and valve stem seals just to be safe. I've built 10 four stroke engines and this is the first time this has ever happened to me. Anything like this happen to anyone else? I know for sure it wasn't burning coolant when I purchased it as I would have seen the infamous white smoke and the bike would have overheated.
