So, for many of you privateers, how good is a Pro Circuit engine gonna be compared with the Pro Circuit Kawi's.
This might not be politically correct to ask, but hey, if you are racing against the PC guys what are you truely gonna get week end and week out?
PM me if you can't speak out.
I am thinking of supporting a guy and need to what to expect......

Mitch is no slouch...

He has made PC what it is because he puts forth the effort to make bikes fast and reliable.

With PC i believe you get what you pay for...

I have familiarized myself with most of the PC innards on lites bikes and can confidently say that building a PC motor is the only way to go to be competitive. But, will the components you buy be as good as what is inside the PC bikes? I highly doubt it.

Ditto. I believe there are very few privateers that have the kind of money it takes to have PC put together an engine with the same level of performance as PC's own race bikes.

Ok Im good friends with Chad Pedersen. When he rode for Mitch back in the late 90's. He was also riding his own Kawasaki's in the Arenacross series. He straight up said that The PC bikes don't even compare to the to his Arenacross bikes. They were that much better.

Their record speaks for itself, and if you still aren't sure, look how many other teams use their motors and gear!

Mitch has had other teams beat him using his stuff... Pretty sure Canard in 08 was running a PC Motor was he not?!?!

I am guessing that we are talking about a 250f?

The full blown PC motor is as good as it gets, but it has a short life span and has to be rebuilt so often that it's to costly for most privateers.

From experience, I know for sure that the customer does NOT get what the race team gets--not even close! the transmissions on the team bikes are worth more than most of our cars! although PC does nice work, there are a couple of smaller companies that put out a great motor, like Blonix (Cali) or Eleven 10 Mods (Pennsylvania). My main rider has an Eleven 10 motor and he pulled a 10th place holeshot last year at High Point in the first moto from pretty far outside. I've ridden his race bike, and it is ridiculous, and for sure on par with the others. However, it needs rebuilt every 6-8 hours. the truth of the matter is, there aren't any amateur riders that need a full blown race motor anyway. you can get by with minimal mods and a pipe on a 250, and NOTHING on a 450!

There is no way your average customer can get the same motors that the PC team has. 1st you would have to have the motor constantly rebuilt. PC has to constantly change out motors. When you are producing that much HP it won't last long. 2nd PC has to have some secrets. If you gave out all of your stuff to paying customers what would keep another engine builder from copying everything. Reynard Modifications have been doing my suspension and motors for years. Robert will tell you, The horsepower can be brought out of the motor but you have to keep it together. What good is having a motor faster than anyone else if it wont hold up. PC has the technology and the money for their team.

A little of subject here, but 2 years ago I was lucky enough to get a tour of PC behind the scenes when I was in town for A3. I was blown away with the place. Each dept has their own area with 4-6 guys working in it and they are all so proud to be given the chance to work for PC. The power that Mitch has over his riders to where they rise to the occasion and do better than they ever have, he also puts on all of his shop guys. I was able to visit with guys in several departments and they felt as if they had their dream jobs. The part of the tour that blew me away the most was when I was shown Mitches work area. Yes, Mitch still works on engines. He's got a big old wooden desk that he's probably had since he started PC. He rolls his wheel chair right up to it and does engine mods for customers and his racers. I was so impressed. Unfortunately he was in meetings the whole time I was there and didn't get to visit with him.

Anyway, just know that his whole PC team of mechanics works just as hard as his riders do.

if you are worried about it don't do it.

Also if you are going to spend a decent amount of money, I would suggest calling and asking to speak with Mitch if he can't put your concerns to rest then I'd worry.

In all honesty...

P.C. can build ya a motor that will be competitive...VERY competitive; however, the real concern is can you take care of it?

Will it be maintained to the req'd levels of a real race motor?

On the current crop of 250Fs...you can get a lot out of a piston, pipe and jetting/mapping.

As to "Heads"...

There are altenatives like Cosworth, etc.

Yamaha's selling/leasing race motors.

There are PLENTY of Alternatives: however, P.C. has one helluva a TRACK RECORD.

Don't they?

As to anyone having to p.m. you...beware...I'd ask Bill Keefe or someone who's got KNOWN RESULTS before I'd listen to anyone-else.

I'm jus' knowin'...

All you have to do is cut Mitch a check for $20k and you'll get a powerful 250F engine that will run with just about anything else on the track.

This is the only way a privateer can run with a Pro Circuit 250F motor.

for those of you who have never raced before, let me explain how a race starts: all of the racers line up behind a gate, and when it falls, they all go as fast as they can to the first turn. this is commonly referred to as the "holeshot". what I was referring to in my post, was my rider coming from the far outside and coming around the first turn in 10th place, which, at a national, especially one with a deep uphill start, is not easy to do. so his position was 10th coming around the first turn during the holeshot, thus, he scored a "10th place holeshot". douches.

Sorry but a holeshot is the guy who comes around the corner 1st.

10th place is a 10th place start.

I'm not a spokesmans for PC.
However, the theirs vs yours deal will be different.
Commonsense here people!
The PC team bikes are what they are, the "Class of the Class".
However, getting a PC package for yourself or someone you
support is good as well.
Seen it, lived it.
If ya want what they have, then the rider has to show he's worthy!
Just like getting a factory ride, the same applies here too......
In the meantime, everything publicly offered will in fact
help your guy "git-r-done"..........
So, the next step is yours.............?

I hate getting in these threads because I feel my reply will come off as bashing PC. Their bikes are fast, but not magic. The riders make them magic. And it's true they don't sell what they race.. no matter who you are.

The only way to put this to rest is to have a bikes done up by some good engine builders, all stock appearing... test riders will have no idea who did them. Then pick a winner.

What magazine is willing to do this? I think it would be a great story.

WRONG
WRONG
WRONG

A "Holeshot" is the first person through the first turn
PERIOD

A "start" is when everyone leaves the gate and enters the first turn, ONLY the rider to exit that first turn in first place got "The Holeshot"

There IS NO "2nd place holeshot"
Just as there is no "10 place holeshot"

Even fuckin' Wikipedia has this shit right - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holeshot

How long you been in the sport, "coach?"
You teach stupid shit like this?

So, before you call anyone a fucking "douche" I suggest you look in the mirror.
