Hey guys, long time lurker on here and I'm finally nearing completion of my first full rebuild of a bike. Bought this 2005 RM 125 bank in September or October of 2021 while I was recovering from a shoulder surgery. I stripped the bike down most of the way soon after getting it and bought a bunch of parts, but shortly thereafter shifted focus to other things in life. Fast forward to black Friday 2022 I bought some more big tickets parts and finished stripping the bike to be powder coated. I again took a break from the build after getting it back from powder coat and partially reassembling it. Now the past month or two I'm back to spending money and putting the bike together. This isn't a race build or anything, just want a sweet looking and good running bike. Please chime in with any input or advice and enjoy the build. Wish I would've taken more pics but I'll post what I got to catch you guys up to present day.

Anyhow those were mid tear down, the oldest pics I have of it unfortunately. Here it is post powder coat
The forks were pretty thrashed. So much rash on the upper tubes from tie downs I guess that I couldn't even slide em into the new clamps. Had a hard time finding replacements from a Suzuki 2 stroke so I ended up getting these from eBay. Supposedly came off of a 2005 rmz 450. Only difference I'm aware of is the fork lugs. The tini lower legs look tits in my opinion tho!

Top end was smoked so a new Vertex piston went in. I left the bottom end intact, but I will be refreshing the clutch soon.
Now to present day.
Couldn't mount my fresh Dubya set of wheels due to the fork lugs difference. The RMZ lugs used a different axle and wheel spacers so I got the RM lugs switched onto the RMZ forks. Seals were leaking anyways so I got my local suspension guy to refresh the forks and shock while he was at it. I also installed some eBay Showa decals 👌
Oh and I finally got some fresh rubbers put on!
Looks great so far .
Also I got motostuff rotors front & rear! I'd really like to upgrade the front caliper too, just can't decide what I want to replace it with.
Looking really good! Looks like the swing arm needs some work- can easily sand down.
Thanks man! Yea it's got a couple small nicks/gouges on it. I may sand them down at some point..... or I might just cover it with a decal lol
I never bought a carb in 50 years, then i stumbled upon a Lectron that had done one meeting, bought that , and now them on both my RM250's.
All the poor running has gone away, they are sweet as.
We ran G2 on all our Supermoto bikes, but i never want a quick turn throttle, the cammed inserts give you 3/4 of a turn for 1/2 throttle opening , and the last 1/4 goes to WOT.. so nice for finding grip when there is none.
And +1 on the decal placement, i am now restoring old plastic and am only doing the bits the graphics wont cover.
Forks look amazing
I first used a Lectron about 7 years ago on a new KTM 125sx and it transformed the bike! Only mod I did to that bike and it made such a difference. I'm expecting this new Billetron to be even more impressive.
And as for the G2, this will be the first time I've used a quick turn throttle but I felt like it would have been a great mod on past 125's I've owned. Hopefully it works for me as well as I think it will. I also got the Jimmy twister bearings on it so it's super smooth turning.
Yes sir I'm quite keen on them also 👌
Nice build the yellow wheels look awesome!
Thanks Johnny, I'm inclined to agree! Dubya knows how to lace up a nice set for sure
Pit Row
Is it is just me, or do others fantasize about owning a screaming tiddler from each brand?
you are not alone. i would love to collect and build a 1996 stable
This thought crosses my mind on average once a day lol
Oh I almost forgot to mention I also recently spoke with my heloc and bought this "gas saver"!!!. I'm dying to spend some time and money making it how I want it but trying to keep myself to one project at a time lol
