I know it changes almost everything as far as you and your spouse go but, how about going riding? I have friends that take their kids out riding and it seems like a blast. My wife and I are having a boy in May so I'm pretty excited to say the least. I'm just wondering what kinds of things I have to look forward to that any of you guys have experienced? Sorry this post isn't about Reed or StewartCheerful

Nothing beats riding with your kids! I'm having more fun just riding pitbikes with my son than I have ever had on a motorcyle in my life.

That sounds good to me....I guess it becomes less about you and more about you and your son having fun together right?

It's great when all you need is a few dollars to fill the tank to make a whole day out of it.

X2 But in a good way ........IMO

I have two 21/2 and 6 months both boys. They are awesome I am not going to lie it does change but the rewards are 1000 times better that anytime you loose riding. They will make you laugh untill you cry and then 30 minute later you want to beat them (I do not beat my kids by the way) anyway congrats At first I did not want kids, I took my wife two years to talk me into it........best thing I have ever done

I had a great time, learned alot and enjoyed every minute of my time racing before the kids came along.
Now multiply that by a 1000 and you understand how great it is to take your kids riding and racing.
Congrats to you and the wife on the new riding buddy!

at first having kids made me only want to put-put around on pit bikes...the pressure of having a living being completely dependent on me, took all risk taking desire out of me.....last thing I wanted to do immediately after having kids was get hurt/disabled/killed and not be able to provide for my daughter.

It's not that bad now (three years later), but I still prefer to keep my tires on the ground (though my ego does get the best of me on occasion when on an MX track, and I'll do jumps I'm not 100% confident on), and stay well within my comfort level.

I have 2 sons,4yrs and 6 months, the 4 year old is crazy for motorcycles, last weekend his mom and I got him a PW 50 and it blew his mind.to my suprise he got on it and just took off with the biggest smile on his face Ive ever seen, best 500 bucks Ive ever spent!!
Having kids makes riding a million times better, when you see the smile on they're face all the mortgage payments and bill payment worries and work stress just dissapear.

Taste totally differs here, I don't want my kid to start riding, and I like the thought of having time for myself and my friends to charge my batteries. If the kid insist on going with me, then it's a different story.

In my book you can't do wrong here as long as you don't force anyone doing stuff! Smile

Dude its the little things that is what make it fun, such as
1. He is laying on the floor right now watchin the DVR of San Deigo Lites race and says "dad jake wiemer and anstie are the only ones doing that double" damn he knows his shit and he is only 5
2. I used to ride with my dad and he would catch me off gaurd and roost the shit out of me--now i get to dish it out to him. That will have me laughing out loud in my helmet. There was a dude that came up to me at the track and said how funny it was when we are on the track together.
3. The giggles I hear when im on my pitbike in the back yard and I get a big ass stuff pass from a five year old.
4. when he asks for more gas.

You haven’t live until you’ve done the whole 50 thing. My little racers just turned 6 (twins) and we are having a blast and when my daughter is old enough she will learn on a pink pw50 just remember to keep it fun.

Its kinda sucks at first riding with your kids because their slow and require alot to keep them going. Then it gets fun trying harder trails. Then it sucks because they get faster than you and get tired of waiting on you.

One of the saddest days of my life was when my son decided he didn't want to ride anymore. He was 14 I think and was getting quite fast. He was always naturally talented and had a great, smooth style and I loved watching him ride in front of me, seeing his line choices etc. I was soooo looking forward to watching him develop even more and us riding together until I was an old man. Sad

Oh well, he still makes me proud with his music and everything else he does. The important lesson here is, just enjoy the time you have with your kids. Before you know it they'll be grown up and living away from home.

Well we had our first boy 4 months ago, and he likes looking at the TV, haha.

But my dad already has a community grandchildren JR50 at his house he is fixing up for my Sisters boy who is 2, and for us when he is ready.

Of course my wife is not too pumped on the idea, but I figure I will let my kids decide for themselves if they want to ride or not.

Congratulations, jimid553!

for me, it's first time in like 20 some years that I don't feel being robbed when at home on weekends.

We have a MX track with a day care center build in. I'm not sure how good it is being a free service, but I'll take my girl out to check it out when spring comes. My wife works over weekends sometime so it might be a great thing Woohoo

I still tense up when he goes to the starting line. I have so much info to give him and he wont listen to a word I say. Nervous, happy, frustrated, all of the above. It puts us on an even playing field to cause he is getting real fast.

It changes from a personally when you ride, because now its not just you, but kids you have to worry about taking care of. I know my riding slowed down and I no longer do stuff I am not that comfortable with because of that responsibility. I don't make my money riding bikes, so I tone it down.

On the flip side, I have a 12 yr old daughter and a 7 year old son, and they both love riding. Always asking if we can go ride this weekend. My daughter reads TWMX & RacerX every month cover to cover. She is a stat machine when it comes to riders. She would do a better interview than Erin Bates I bet! It's a great feeling and a blast to take them out to the desert and rip. Especially to see them progress and get faster. They have both raced a couple times, but man, I tell you racing for kids now is nothing like it was when I raced. When I raced we slept in back of dads truck and my race bike was my practice bike. Now you go and damn 7 year old have 4 bikes, fully decked out in a semi and 30 ft enclosed trailer. Ridiculous .

Didn't change anything until the ball and chain brought my two kids to visit me in the Hospital after Orthopedic surgery.
