It should be like all other major sports, where you're required to disclose an injury. Whether it's the week of the race, or the Friday before race day, there needs to be some kind of disclosure. Especially if the sportsbooks are going to offer lines on the races.

Will never happen without the riders forming a union but it seems like they are all too short sighted to do that.

Why would a rider's union want to require injury disclosure?

It wouldn't be the union side wanting it, it would be something they would agree to in collective bargaining because the other side wants it. Small thing to give up to get something else in return.

Gotcha.  But I'm not sure the other side really cares.

I’d imagine at least part of it is another rider’s bad intentions. I believe it was Josh Grant who went right after Alessi’s injured knee in MX and took him out of the series for good.

Can anybody think of another example of this happening though?

Allessi and Grant had been mortal enemies their entire lives.

Do we really think that Tomac or Sexton or Roczen etc. are gonna go for Jett’s leg if they know he has a sprained ankle?
